I'm normally in the current scene forum so forgive me guys if this is a thread that's been done before. Who would win had these two guys - both trained by Eddie Futch - ever met in the ring?

For what they're worth, here are some stats I produced earlier: Frazier 32-(27)-4-1 with a KO ratio of 84%; Norton 42-(33)-7-1 with a KO ratio of 79%.

Common opponents: Ali - both won 1 fight and lost 2; Foreman - both KO'd in round 2. Frazier met him again and lasted until the 5th.

Final points to think about: Norton fought continuously up until he was 38 losing 3 fights in his last 3 years whilst Frazier retired aged 32 - coming back to fight a draw with Jumbo Cummings at the age of 38.

It really should be too close to call but any views guys?

Now why don't you stick to the topic and tell Steve what would happen in Frazier vs Norton like he asked. OR, i can save you the time.

Fraizer KO's Norton in 2, no later than 5.

Norton had the style to give Ali fits (a good argument can be made that he won all three of their fights, and fought Holmes almost even in an excellent heavyweight match.....

....but....he didn't do much against other qualiity fighters and he couldn't fight backing up, and frazier would make him back up more than somewhat.

i see the fight as similar to frazier/ellis....steady pounding and an early kayo.

I would expect Joe Frazier to walk though Norton and win inside 3 rounds.

Frazier was a slow starter. I think he struggles for the first 2 or 3 rounds, but then picks it up and puts Norton away inside of 9 rounds. Norton especially hated pressure fighters, and there was no better pressure fighter than Frazier.

JMHO, but Joe Frazier would have been too tough for Ken Norton. Joe, no doubt, would have absorbed some early shots and would have turned the heat up on Kenny in the middle rounds. I believe Norton would have been picking his spot to sit down around the 9th round or so. Would have been interesting and fun to watch, however......

Frazier KO's Norton betwen 3rd-7th -

This scenario has several threads circulating. Overwhelmingly Frazier gets the nod. I have been one of the few to say it would be much more competitive than most imagine. I don't think Joe had the "threshold" power it would take to KO Ken. So with Ken in for the full 15 I think it would be a close one. You probably have to lean to Frazier but the blow out most seem to indicated just doesnt seem right IMHO.

Norton sparred regularly with Frazier so he might not freeze fronm the start like he usually did against big hitters, but he'd still get kod by the 6th

norton would outbox fraizer. outcome of this match would be Ud for norton

i dont think frazier would be outboxed by anymeans... if frazier is going to lose this fight its gonna be because of the powerpunches and either a lucky shot or just a devestating punch.
