This.
Holyfield has 11 children and his home testifies to his ridiculous over-indulging.

House looks like a hotel, the ridiculous size of it! Why would you need a house that big? Its not practical. What does he do, sleep in a different room each night? Lol. Ok, so he has eleven children (that's some going) but even if they all lived with him, he would not need a house that big!
Boxers invest in crazy things, buy crazy things! Holyfield has earned well over 100M its very sad to hear he's bankrupt!
Looks like he will be another guy joining the list of guys who were forced to box on rather than them choosing to! Money dictates.

Holyfield always said he would be capable of spending a million a day, so this news doesn't surprise me.
That house is amazing.

If the Klitschko's cannot be signed up. I really think Holyfield is the name Haye should fight.
Easy sell.

I'd love to see McGuigan swallow his principles and sell Holyfield's chances.

Holy sh1t! Look at the size of that swimming pool. It must be, like, 200 meters. 50 laps of that before breakfast and you could swim the channel.
Seriously, Holyfield may have earned 100 million, but he won't have seen half of that, once taxes and promoters fees and trainer's fees all get taken out.
Meantime, 50 million's still a cr@p load of money.
You need to buy a house and then put the rest in US treasuries or some other next to zero risk and liquid asset that can give you some protection against inflation. Jeez, it's just plain dumb to spunk everything on a house like that. That's a house for John Rockerfella or the Rothschild family.
Anyway, speaking of frugal, the bank paid me a bounus for first quarter performance, so I decorated my front room. What do you think?

With the other 25 quid, I could probably just about afford a coffee, at Moscow prices.

The chairs look a bit user-unfriendly, but otherwise, it's not a bad job.

Why invest some enormous amounts of money in ANYTHING?
Why not let it sit in the bank & live off vast sums of interest?
Why do boxers repeatedly put their big paydays into pie in the sky?

Inflation.
The real value of GBP100 would only be worth, say, GBP97 after a year, GBP94 the year after, and so on. Obviously you would earn SOME interest on that by putting it in the bank, but really not a great deal more than the rate of inflation. When you start getting large amounts of money, you have to make it work for you, but investing in things that are going to pay a rate of return, or things that aren't going to lose value in the long run, like gold (about as close to risk free you can get, but in the long term, doesn't really grwo in value too much.)
That's why people like to buy things, like houses, that over the long run provide utility (you can live in them) and shouldn't fall in value.

I remember Meldrick Taylor had a mansion with a swimming pool shaped as a boxing glove (or was it Saad Muhammad?). Either way, their salad days are long gone. Saad even sold his Canastota Hall of Fame ring on
ebay.
