OK Guys.........If you were had the clout to put someone into Canastoga, New York and you only have 3 choices, who would they be?

Use the same criteria, at least 5 years retired. It can be anyone who was overlooked and deserves to be in.

- Tyson must be coming up soon, this or next year as long as the rumours of his comebacks continue to be quashed.

Danny Little Red Lopez and Primo Carnera the most glaring absence in the HOF that I can think of off hand.

Great calls on Newsboy Brown & Mike O' Dowd. I honestly didn't know they were not in.

Zapata, Laciar, Yuh & Gushiken are four that I think belong.

Great call yourself. All four (Zapata, Laciar, Yuh and Gushiken) were excellent, longtime champions and underrated

Tyson should be there, without question imo! Lesser fighters have been inducted so Mike should be there! :box:

I assume the question refers to the "Modern catagory" (no bout earlier than 1943 - retired 5 years):

1. Rodolfo "El Gato" Gonzalez
2. Danny "Indian Red" Lopez
3. Koichi Wajima

(By the way, Tyson isn't eligible yet, his last fight having taken place in 2005).

Yes, Tyson's last pro fight was in 2005, so if I'm not wrong, we are talking aboutg 2010, so 2005-2010 is five years! With that, Tyson is eligable!

Last time I looked at the calendar, it was still 2009.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I took the writer's intention with this post as for the participants to list 3 fighters who, while otherwise eligible, have been unfairly denied entry into the IBHOF. Tyson hasn't been denied entry yet - he's just not eligible.

I'm the guy who started this thread.

The inductees for 2009 have already been enshrined so I'm looking at who would be the most likely candidates for 2010. Of course, there are many many worthy boxers from years past who have either been overlooked or flat out ignored.

However, someone such as Lennox Lewis made it on his first year of eligibility. So consider who retired in 2005 and if there is anyone from that year who has a chance to enter in 2010.

As for those who have been overlooked, I can't disagree with any of the choices mentioned so far. Perhaps with boxing having expanded to a global sport, there should be more inductees than the original 3 the IBHOF selects. How about 5?

Thanks for the clarification. Both Tyson and J. C. Chavez are eligible in 2010, and I suspect each of them will get into the IBHOF.

If I were an elector, I would submit a 2010 ballot for Chavez, "Little Red" and Wajima. Tyson would have to wait until 2011 for my vote.

If permitted by the rules, though, I'd cast a vote for Lucia Rijker - arguably the best woman boxer currently eligible, Chavez, and Wajima. Then, I'd put "Little Red," Tyson, and Gonzalez on my ballot for 2011.

In my opinion, fighters from the Orient seem largely ignored by both Halls of Fame. Wajima was a three-time champion. He deserves induction.
