Fans are sometimes interested in new stories about fighters, even when unrelated to the sport itself.

It's possible it could affect his career, although unlikley.

I assume he was just drunk driving, he didn't hit an car or anything?

No malice meant? So you just bring it apon yourself to try and 'name and shame'? You dont like drink driving but you like Mitchell... I dont like drink driving but I like Mitchell so this is not the way I'd express it, if you feel that strongly about it and you did like Mitchell you'd be actively invovled in something againts drink driving and you wouldn't have named and tried to shame Mitchell would you, you have obviously copied your opening post from somewhere. You dont like Mitchell, your one of those people who can not wait to bring someone down who is at the top, expose the negative in them. Of course there was malice meant by your post. Hopefully Mitchell will learn by this in more ways than one...That its stupid to drink drive and he was lucky that the consequences wasnt worse and that there are many back slappers out there who pretend to be your friend (ie, buying drinks for him 'go on a couple wont hurt' etc).

He is a British boxer and this is a British boxing forum. Events like this that could effect his career/training or give a possible insight to his discipline, or lack there of, are completely relevant and worth being brought up.

Exactly. So we shouldn't talk about boxers breaking the law? Come on, it's a brit boxing forum.

However, Mitchell didn't really do a bad crime here. He was a little bit over the limit.

It's entirely relevant. No one is making a big deal about it. It's a news story about a British boxer.

You're very quick to judge. There's nothing wrong with Ian posting this and it doesn't, by itself, mean that Ian is malicious.

Didn't commit a bad crime?

He was nearly double the drink drive limit FFS - could have killed someone!

I used to revel in these sort of posts, one Englishman's delight at another man's troubles, but now I realize it can happen to anyone. Leave this crap to the 'new' Boxing News.

Is it not of interest to British boxing fans that one of their top boxers has been found guilty of drink driving?

Not sure anyone is delighted with the story?

Not true - it can only happen to people who drink and drive.

I don't drink and drive, I never have. If I ever do, I should be punished the same as everybody else.

If however I obey the law and respect the lives of other road users then it can not happen to me, thats all I am saying.

He's on the slate for the MEN show next week. Apparently a good performance could result in his next bout being against Roman Martinez for the world title...

its a fair post, if it had been naz or scott harrison it would have ben put up here, or news about krence and his girlfriend, or bruno and his wife, or johnny nelson featuring in the sunday papers.

its decent press, but todays news is tomorrows fish and chip paper.

But Ian claims he likes Mitchell then states no malice intended.....So I take it you would expose people's misfortunes of those you like. Yes its sort of news that most prob would have got out but I wouldn't have been proud to have put it out 'of someone I like'?!...Wonder if Ian would go up to Mitchell and say 'I like you...and I exposed your drink driving charge'!...No, dont think he would so it is malice.

He just posted something that's newsworthy. Simple. It's not like it's something private -- it's something Ian found out about in the public domain.
