The secret and not so secret "abyss" of turmoil that rules the life of some of the athletes that give us such pleasure and pride in their sporting life is just heartbreaking. The most recent of tragedies Alexis and Arturo ,are simply outrages and sad. The circle of "supporters" that "care" so much and find financial gains by being a "friend" to such personalities are blackhearted. Let's be real here.......Fighter's are born, real fighter's. Most of them have a story of misfortune that they overcame to try and better their life for themselves and their family. So what happens when? When now they are introduced to things and people that smoke and mirror them ,where money is flowing , like a river wild. These people need help, guidance, they need to learn skills outside of there sporting element that has made them so successful and fortunate. Someone to trust that can say..." Um, ya know what Arturro , yeah she's hot she's a stripper ...have your fun...but for God sakes, she's 23 and a psycho...don't bring her home to Mom".Not a phone call once a month, someone there everyday to let them know it's ok, call me that's what I'm here for...keep it real, today is a great day , be proud....set your personal goals as high as you have proffesionally. It saddens me....it does. Nobody should feel as if there is nobody...the worst feeling is lonliness...or the thought you've been forgotton when the bell rings for you no longer. These fighters fought and trained and abused their bodies from day one,to feel worthy and seek worthiness, to die so unnecessary is simply wasetful and tragic. So , to all the fighter and other athletes that have either paved the way and those whom have kept the road paved...you are still very much appreciated. Hold your head high and don't let those shoulder's droop....and Thank You.....

Yes, Bennie , some do....some grew up durng the war, so many different misfortunes....exactly what I mean. Don't you think a personal guide , someone they could relate to , to "show them the ropes" would be helpful?

Phew, you raise an age-old chestnut which nobody has managed to solve. A strong family round the fighter, a wife such as Mrs Tommy Hearns (who has tucked away all his millions), a strong and ruthless lawyer on board (like Sugar Ray Leonard's Mike Trainer)... At the end of the day, it boils down to individuality. Some ex-fighters learn to live with the sadness of lost glory, a life out of the limelight, but plenty more don't.

I agree as well...I have 3 young boys that look up to some of these sports figures....it's heartbreaking...
