I just saw Jason Cook is scheduled to fight this weekend. I thought he'd had to quit for some health reason (i.e a career-ending incident). Am I mistaken? If not, how did he overcome it? Anyway, he was always good value and should still have something left, so an interesting comeback.

He's from my home town and I've seen him pounding the streets for months, I think he returns at Welterweight

Welterweight?? bit heavy for cookie that in my opinion. Would have been an interesting addition to lightweight if he couldve somehow made the weight.

Hmmm....maybe lighter-welter would be better, I recall he was severly weight weakened for about with Zoff, where he was floored by a stiff jab. Actually scratch that, I also remember he had an ankle injury in the build-up, thus affecting his ability to make weight. Perhaps he should think about working his way down to lightweight. Cracking fighter - I'll never forget his European title winning knockout in Italy after being knocked down himself.

Fought our very own Coco twice too.

I always thought Cook was a bit special, also won a proper ABA title as a 17 year old via 1st round stoppage, and of course a Commonwealth silver.
He was very tight at 9'9 when he turned over and came in 4 pounds over when I fought him, I thought then he would have to fight at 10st at championship level.
Jason is probably past his best and needs a few quid, but he is in proper shape for this and can definately get back into the domestic title mix.

Good boxer Cook.... always seemed to fight on similer days to me. I think he could do ok with a good trainer his left hook is a beast.

A worry. He was dead at the weight but fought like Justin Juuko (against Gomez) in his last couple of fights.
