Tyson Fury's opponent this Saturday....

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum, but after the talk in Boxing News last week of Tyson facing a 6ft 9in, 20st Russian and then the unbeaten Irish heavyweight Coleman Barrett saying he would face Fury, I was hopeful of a decent opponent turning up this Saturday to face Fury.
Not too sure if this guy fits the bill........

I'm not blaming Tyson, if people don't want to share a ring with him then there's not much he can do. But this guy has only won three out of nine fights, it's the sort of boxer Tyson should have fought on his debut. At least the guy looks durable if nothing else, if Tyson can get a stoppage here it will look good.

The fella hasn't been stopped, hopefully will give Fury some rounds, decent fight for him at this stage of his career.
The important thing is to be kept busy, and the really learning will be done in the gym

hes fighting mcdermott 7 weeks after the fight so only needs a warm up.

give me some examples of british prospects who in there first 6 or so bouts have fought better lads than fury has?
Heavyweights are notorious for a slow build-up, Fury has so far done everything asked for him, and faced decent competition.
Just hope the McDermott fight comes off soon

He doesn`t fight bums.
He fought Peret, who on his last couple of outings has proved that he is durable and game.
Considering his age and the fact that he at the start of his career, I would say he he has fought decent opponents (apart from the first guy who was about three weights under him)

Also, evolve into another calzaghe? U mean reign a division for 10 years and then prove urself in america? Going down as arguably the UKs greatest eva? That would be awful.

Was Lennox calling out all and sundry on a weekly basis and talking shite about all the other heavyweight during this time?
No.
Fury is talking the talk and then fighting this type of opponent.
Sorry but if you run your mouth like he has, you are expected to back it up. And this bum fight isn't exactly backing up his talk. It kind of makes him look bad when he talks so much and calls all the other heavyweights out, then goes and fights a no hoper. lets hope the mcdermott fight comes off.

Prove yourself in america? All Calzaghe proved over there was that he couldn't even convincingly beat 44 year old Bernard Hopkins and got bounced off the canvas by old versions of Roy and Bernard. Ask any US fan and they'll tell you either Roy or Bernard would have wiped their arses with calzaghe back when Calzaghe was "afraid of flying".
Then we have the 10 year reign. Fighting the pudwills, veits etc. I'm not even bothered to name all the shite he fought.
Fury is talking big and you have to back it up instead of fighting BUMS. If he kept his mouth shut and went about his business, there would be no problem.

I agree with you, lirva can talk a lot of shite at times. I dont want to see Fury rushed. He is just a baby at HW so he has many years ahead of him to engage with tougher opposition. This guy loses on points but hasnt been stopped so lets see if Fury can be the first to beat him by stoppage, that would be a feather in his cap.

He always seems decent on film - not sure if his 'quotes' are press releases or Tyson's verbatim words.....
I am a big fan of Fury if you read some of my posts here. He has been a breath of fresh air.
But if he starts pulling this fighting bums routine, i'm not just going to blindly follow him.
He has talked and talked and talked and now he presents this to the public. The McDermott fight is on the horizon so lets see if that happens (I think fury will do John in 6 rounds).
This fighting bums routine after talking all the shite in the world, doesn't really leave a good taste in the mouth.

I have seen a good improvement in young Fury in his last few fights this should be no test for him at all,not will Barret,i wish Fury well

with respect, hes 20 years old. that is SO young for a heavy. (almost too young to even turn pro really when u consider the strength of the big guys). Give him a chance to get ten fights in

as real_meal says, the key thing is that the macdoughnut fight could be 7 weeks away, let tyson shake off the rust that caused his last fight to be cancelled, let him hopefully get a few rounds under his belt against a fella who has not been stopped. the british guys wont fight him, they saw what happened to belshaw.

Yes but Audley really was a different class from any other heavyweight we have ever had. He could have won the British heavyweight title within five fights, remember.
Seriously though, Audley had signed that big deal with BBC and was essentially headlining the shows - so its no wonder his progress was pretty rapid - shame it petered out somewhat though!
