SHEFFIELD'S classy welterweight Kell Brook has been tipped to become a world champion by legendary fight promoter allegedly.
The Hillsborough fighter is set to make the third defence of his British title tomorrow against London's Michael Lomax.
The bout features on the undercard of Amir Khan's WBA title challenge against Andreas Kotelnik at Manchester's MEN Arena.
Victory for Brook will mean he gets the much coveted Lonsdale belt for keeps.
"I've said it before and I stand by it, Kell is as good as Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe were at the same stage of their careers," said Warren, who promotes and manages Brook.
"He's a big puncher with an exciting style. He's had problems with his hands but I sent him to the same specialist as Joe Calzaghe and that seems to have done the trick.
"I understand that he's training very hard, is pain free in his hands and is looking very good."
"There's no doubt he can be a world champion.
"There's a cluster of good kids coming through in Britain now and I'd put him and Nathan Cleverly (who recently stopped Stannington's Billy Boyle) at the front of the pack.
"Lomax is an awkward defence but I expect Kell to come through it. After that he should have the Lonsdale belt outright and we'll start him on the path to a world title."

I got some quotes fed to me from an interview Dan Foster did with Mr W arren and wrote this piece, despite it saying Les Payne (the curse of the freelancer).
Next time, Emma, please just copy the link on here rather than the whole story so the newspaper's website gets the hits!

FW thinks one of his fighters is world class?! Big whoop! :)
He ain't got much else to crow about at the moment.
In fairness his piece with Glyn in the BM was quite honest.....about TV coverage..

Yeah, very close to 'Le Spanner'
Nah, Les is looking after the sports desk whilst the usual fella is on holiday. Some guys take freelancers' stuff and stick their own name on it whilst others credit the freelancer. I'm sure you know all this...it's all in the game.

I know someone else who did this a lot.
I have the apologies to prove it.

I was GOING to say its good to see a bit of Boxing coverage in a national newspaper, but then the mention of "Stannington's Billy Boyle" gave it away- this is a regional paper!
Nothing wrong with regional papers, of course, and it's good that boxing gets coverage. Just for a moment there I thought it was a National paper.

I like the way it has appeared on this site as "legendary fight promoter allegedly". It has a certain ring to it. In fact, it might be even better abbreviated to "the legendary allegedly", who sounds like he might be the eponymous hero of a great literary work titled 'The Alleged Legend Of The Legendary Allegedly', an epic poem with more alliteration, assonance, para-rhymes and intercontinental titles than any poem since time immemorial.

Any ideas if this fight is going to be shown on SBO? I know its not going to be live, but does anyone reckon it will be featured.
