"The gym can be an unforgiving place, too, as DeGale found in a recent sparring session with Anthony Small that was rumoured to have ended in a mass brawl involving various team members. But Small is a controversial character. On Saturday he faces Matthew Hall, the Commonwealth light-middleweight champion, for the vacant British title, a bout that has become a grudge match after Small made a string of remarks about his opponent."

At the press conference Hall said to Small that he would bite his nose off. What a discgrace. Soemone should report him to the BBBoC. We dont need remarks like that in Boxing. Small kept his dignity and laughed it off. I hope Small KO's him. Anthony should have too much for him in every department.

You sure it wasn't Small who made that comment? From what I've saw (admittedly its only TV coverage) it was Small doing all the bad mouthing and Hall the one looking calm and laughing it off. If so anyway its not like Small hasn't made out of order comments in the past, he's hardly an angel himself. You are right though dont need none of that in boxing.

Small totally outclassed Hall in every way! Coming in wearing a tuxedo to Frank Sinatra's My Way might not be to everyone's liking, but Anythony realises its something different & that some people find it entertaining! He can't please everyone, impossible!
Small done the business tonight & that's what counts, no matter if you like him or dislike him. Just to say I like Anthony, I remember him from Fitzroy Lodge. Even then he was a joker, always darting about, liked to have a laugh & fun! Nothing wrong with that in the slightest.
I say good luck to him. Some might say its would not be adviseable, but I'd like to see him in with Jamie Moore!

Just saw that press confernece. Small comes across as mouthy- which we knew already. Hall , hard to say if it got to him or not.

Well done to Hall, but he's been exposed at British level already.

I saw Small in Manchester on Friday night. Actually in Abdul's takeaway on Oxford Rd. He was eating a healthy meal by the looks of it! I had a brief chat with him as it's not everyday you see boxers in takeaways. He seemed 100% like a pleasant bloke. Maybe it's just his persona when he is in boxing mode. At the end of the day it's a brutal sport aswell as a business and you've got to do what you've got to do to progress. Not saying he is right or wrong for the way he acts but suppose that's his way.

Small wound up Hall no stop and it worked. Hall played into his hands.

Small has gone up in my estimation!! I still think Ryan Rhodes would beat him though as Ryan has been dealing with awkward people his whole life in the Ingle gym and if Ryan wanted too I think he could be even more awkward and harder to hit than Small, I also think Ryan is a much harder hitter too!!
Small Vs Moore is the one I wanna see and I can see it happening too!! I think Moore would engage with him and the mouthy stuff from Small would just fire Mooresy up!! I'd go for a Mooresy stoppage in say the 8th of a great fight!!

I wonder if Moore will get this shot at Sergio Martinez. Moore seems to have a bit of bad luck, as Martinez might be moving up to face Pavlik. Though there are other names that have also been approved by HBO, such as Balzsay, etc.

agreed on both counts, but i don't think Moore would get fired up 'in the wrong way' but in the right way, it seems with small you have to keep your cool and I am sure both Jamie and Ryan could do that.
