Full MEN results, discussion etc

Firstly, yes, there will be some overlap with other threads, so I'll limit discussion to the "main fights."
1. Mitchell V .... Opponent.
Basically, a workout for the Mitchell- he alsmost looked like he was treating it like a sparing session. Stoppage, all things considered, was early, but didn't make a great deal of difference to the result.
2. Enzo V Lebedev..
Discussed elsewhere, but basically a bleeding, skay Enzo was punched around the ring during round 3, before the ref called a mercy stoppage.
3. Brook V Lomax
Special K! Brook was snapping Lomax's head back from the start with very neat, accurate jabs, just a case of WHEN he was going to finish it. Clearly hurt Lomax in round three, Lomax fell over, Brook in the way a bit, knockdown not given, then Brook wrapped it up on the ropes. Top man.
4. Smith V Czech
Game and capable opponent, but Smith was throwing clearer shots, and the scoreline is fairly accurate. However, credit to the opponent for a gutsy performance. Smith clearly ready for British title level fight.
5. Small V Hall
Must have it's own thread, ruined for me by a thug who puched a man and his girlfriend afterwards. (See other post.)
6. Saunders V Scriven
Premature stoppage, but Saunders does look good.
7. Gavin V Fearne
Put how down twice, dominant and capable.
8. De Gale V Irsih guy.
First round knockout, by the stage more crowd trouble was distracting from it (many fans had been "relocated" but were just sitting anywhere. Some people near me had already left.

Well spotted!
Yeah, Frankie looked good.
It's funny, it's one of those fights that I saw, but don't really remember,e xcept the stoppage and knockdowns.

agree with you there, I think it's cos they were mismatches which makes me lose interest quickly and then I sort of vegetate whilst watching itso I cant actually remember anything much from those 3 'prospect' fights.

Which makes Wazza's decision to show these live, and not Brook and Macca, baffling.
Or was it Sky's decision ?

Ye Frankie looks like he is adabting to the pro's easier than I thought his 1st and 2nd fight he made am mistakes and didnt look great but last night he looked very good big body shots and extremly fast hands i was also impressed with the other 2 Olypmians but Gavin outshone them last night imo

I assume the logic here is that he is "building a brand," "maximum exposure" etc! Notice how the Olympians always fight in the same order etc.
From the point of view of the man in the crowd, having good fights (Macca, Brook etc) on earlier is great, to be fair. Stops that lonngggg wait through typical undercard fights.

Good effort. The shots he dropped you with were class. Not world class like Nicky piper prematurely stated but Gavin did look good
Thought you should have been given a bit longer although - no offence - it was only ending one way. If someone takes a count, looks clear eyed into the referree, follows the count an gets up at 8 I dont think it should be waved off
Then again it's easy for me to say iin the comfort of my armchair I suppose

Made up Smigga got the win, how did he look exactly Whicker?
Was really impressed with the Olympians, normally it's Saunders stealing the show but i though De Gale looked just as good and Gavin the most impressive.
Arnie seems to have worked some magic on Gavin since his first two fights, can't wait to see what he does in the future.

A good "work out" fight, against a surprisingly tough and keen opponent.
One of those fights in which one boxer was clearly winning the rounds, but not by a massive margin, and the other guy kept fighting back. Smigga was never in trouble, but didn't come close to stopping his opponent either.
In some ways, I could see a similar style of fight against Quigley, who is a physically tough opponent.

Thanks for your appreciation that I had a go ? Couple of folk at work yesterday who know very little about boxing was asking me what went wrong ? In a piss taking way. They said I thought I was supose to be the great white hope. What a bunch of pricks. Frankie was like no other boxer I have faced in 20 years as an ameteur and pro. I tried moving to the left away from the back hand, tried with a right hand lead against southpaw. His foot work in and out his balance far to good for me. Arnie has worked magic on his power he hits very hard. I'm really a light weight and never boxed on a big show like that before and the occasion got to me, not that it would of made any difference he was class. What a nice person he was after fight he called me on the phone the next day and asked if i was ok. Top lad I wish him all the very best one for the future. Great experience for me bring on the dinner shows lol.

I believe the unshown fights are all being shown this friday due to the aborted Moore fight.
If TV showed all the fights then the crowds would diminish. Think of the punters who buy tickets
they get to see the whole show.
Sky make the decision as to which fights they screen not the promoter.

Fella, I wouldn't let a couple of no-marks who aren't fit to tie your shoelaces bother you - anyone who knows anything about boxing will be giving you full respect for getting in the ring with Gavin and who knows, in years to come, there's a good chance you'll be able to say you shared the ring with a world champion.
Really good to hear that Gavin's a nice guy as well.

That's one of the most bizarre and retarded comments I've ever read on this forum.

jut have to echo what has been said. Maybe they should get in the ring and see how hard it is up against the improving World Amateur Champion ( which I have been informed is harder to win than the Olympics)
I remember Micah Richards doing some light sparring with Hatton and he was blowing out his ass after about 2 minutes and this is one of the 'fitter' premiership players. So those no-marks who took the piss probably wouldnt even last 20 seconds

Actually, very very few people do. I know, because I DO try to see the whole show!
But at the start of the evening, there are just a few people around, likewise at the end most people have gone.
But yeah, I do know what you mean- some non-televised action can be a selling point for tickets. Fair point.
Hope to see at least 2 good, well matched bouts, on every card in the future that arn't shown on TV- this would sell me a ticket!!!
I'm not joking. If a Friday Night Fight Night has 2 or three bouts supporting the main event that I like the look of, I may well go to the event to see them.
That doesn't happen much any more.

Well said mate Fearn you did your best you made a fight of it but at the end of the day Gavin is a class act and would beat most of the British levels fighter.
There is no shame losing to Frankie Gavin the guy is class

Yeah- good effort, a brave fight to take on such a big stage for only fight number 7!
If you don't mind me asking, what did you think of the stoppage? Do you think the ref should have let you box on until the bell?

After watching the fight over and over again Im hardly landing a punch on him, The fight was only goin one way. I was out of my depth. So from the boxing / boxers point of view I wasn't going to argue with the ref. I would of gone on until I was unable to defend (ko). I just didn't realise how good he was until I actually boxed him. From a spectators point of view who maybe dosn't know a lot about boxing and can't tell the difference between class and average boxer then No the fight stoppage was premature. I think the ref was doing his job to make sure a fighter dosn't get seriously hurt. I had a 5 week training camp with good hard sparring 8x3 sessions and went into the fight thinking upsets do happen in boxing. I'm well schooled plenty of amateur experience winning under 20 class B novice title, regional aba title so I honstly thought my dream was possible. Hope I answered your question.

I applaud you for giving it a go but it goes to show how poor the amateyr scene is if someone like you can win any sort of title. Sorry to sound harsh but come on...

very harsh,i think you will find gavin will go on to do a similar job on many better fighters.also,if you didnt know, there is a big difference between a regional aba and NOVICE champ and our ONLY world amateur champion, the clue is in the titles.graham had just done a lively 6x3s with rocco in his previous bout and is not a bad pro
