After a great night on Saturday, real titles and real matches. I hear that Sky are allowing IBO and WBU titles back on our screens stating with Matthew Hatton?

What happened to quality control, is the new guy at Sky relaxing the policy and thus inflicting us with more years of so-called world title fights?

Please tell me it's not true. If it is I'm cancelling.

I think its IBO only is that worse than WBO, WBA.

Yes sorry there rankings are good but they have loads of shite champions.

The Khan fight the other night wasn't that much better as the WBA have 2 champs in each weight division, i tend to forget about the belt involved and just concentrate on the fighters,if froch fought kessler for the intercontinental fecarbox title would it matter,i know there are too many stupid titles around but they all mean money to someone,so if the fighters can make some cash then that's great for them,real boxing fans don't fall for the IBO WBU nonsense but the casual fan can believe that these are 'world titles' which can put people off boxing when you can have as many as 10 belt holders per weight division.

I couldn't give a happy shopper chopper about the title on the line- it's the quality of the fight that matters.

Boxing does not have a real world champion, at any weight, nor are there any world real championship fights.

There ARE however, some well made matches (occassionally) that genuinly represent contests between two of the best boxers in their weight divisions.

i dont mind the IBO. good computerised rankings, the title was good enough for the likes of lennox lewis to fight for.

as has already been eluded too, its not the title its the fight that matters, i just want evenly matched fights, i dont care what level they are at !!

The IBO seems to be one of the fairest out there.

Wlad, Tarver and Pacquiao are all current champs.

Then we have mundine, bika etc holiding a belt.

Certainly better than the WBU.

Actually thats not a bad line up. Some of those titles are given to fighters though.

Yeah, they've got nothing at the lower weights, but having Wlad Klit, Dawson and Pacquiao is very good. I think their reputation is the highest it has ever been, and the WBA are dragging their reputation down by creating 3 champions per weight class.

what about klitschko, donaire, pacquiao does dawson still hold the title or did tarver vacate before teh 1st fight?

if the WBU or IBO can bring enough reward to make 2 top brits fight each other, as with michael ayers, colin dunne, wayne rigby fights, then cool. i bet they can't the way things are today, though.

But Matthew Hatton. A guy who has refused fights with Ross MInter for the English title and twice against Kell Brook for the British. A world champion? Come on FFS.

Reeling off current and past champions of the WBU/IBO is okay, but how many actually wanted to fight for it as opposed to being given it or inheriting due to beating their champion for a meaningful belt.

Te IBO seem to tag onto biig fights to raise the profile of their pony belts. Didn't the WBU have Roy Jones, Tommy Hearns and George Foreman at one point?

The fighters make the belts but let's be honest, who has ever made nay money from a made up title. Hatton is the only one with the WBU.

TV cannot con people into beliving they are atching a world title fight so why bother showing them or sanctioning them as fit for TV comsumption?

Matthew Hatton should fight for the British or Commonwealth titles, that's his level so conquer that if possible and at least be remembered for that and not some pony trinket.

If SKY are bringing back these false trinkets to suit Hatton then it's an absolute disgrace. They should force Matthew into a meaningful eliminator or something, not some IBO crap.

If Matthew Hatton fighting is Lovemore N'Dou (saw his name mentioned at the weekend on another site) on a Sky Friday night show then I don't have a problem with the IBO trinket on the line. If they bill as some genuine world title fight peak time on a Saturday night that would be taking the p*ss

are you a boxingchat from a different dimension? has someone hacked into your account? do fringe belts only get criticised when SOMEONE ELSE wants to promote them? granted it seems willie limond for instance isn't doing a great job of it.

What about Gary Lockett? He said he fought for the duff titles - as opposed to traditional - so that he could buy property to let. Made it seem as though he got more than he would have for the British title.

The only fringe title fights that I enjoyed were the Shea Neary fights (vs Naas Scheepers, Micky Ward, Andy Holligan), the round robin involving Colin Dunne, Shaka Ayers and Wayne Rigby (incl Dunne v Schwer) - GREAT FIGHTS - and some highly entertaining Michael Gomez fights. If the fights deliver for the fans and allow the fighters to make extra money then there is no problem.
