new Sky line up, rumours???

Quite a few people on here have posted quips about the new sky line up post september, so, for us that aren't in the SKY club, can anyone shed some light on what's going to be so fantastic about their "expanded boxing coverage" ? A weekly ringside show again? Saturday fights from where? Germany? UK? America?

That'll be Khans next two defences, but what else?

We'd be here all day mate, if every rumour circulating at the moment was posted.
For sure we know Hearn, Hatton, and Maloney have their Sky deals.
Haye will be Sky PPV, and I expect a Sky PPV deal with Khan shortly.
That leaves Hayemaker, Hennessey, Hobson, Wazza without deals.
Can't see Sky getting everyone on board - just too much to fill their quota, although suggestion is Saturday Fight Nights will be back.
No other TV outlet remotely interested in boxing.
Some rumours fill me full of horror, others are too good to be true.
As we say up here, it'll all come out in the wash.

I imagine Wazza will get deal for his fighters, Brook, Cleverly have been on a lot during the year. Hennessy Itv runs out end of year so he got some time? Hobson not got enough fighters for TV.

Some contracts are up and there are going to be changes!!! - I think thats obvious!!

Sky calling all the shots is not healthy for the sport.

got to agree with spuds on this one

with Sky being the only buyer.. that means just one thing.... they pay less for the end product....

it will be good for domestic battles cause they will have to put on a promise of good shows... but it will also mean there is less money available to get the foreign names over here ie Barreras, Zoo's, Kesslers etc etc

I posted a (quickly deleted) topic about this last week. In my opinion (and not that of the forum), the presenting line-up, format, vibe and manner is patronising, dull, sickly and formulaic.

It needs a complete overhaul.

BBB. There, I've said it.

On the flip side wont the promoters have to provide better quality to get sky interested? Thus, less Samuel kedebe types?

Sky should demand the quality!

You would like to think so - but all it will mean is these so called "late withdrawls" and the promoter telling Sky they couldn't get anyone else - oldest trick in the book!!! - if promoters do that I hope Sky just pull the show altogether and put some past fights on or something!!! - quality control at Sky must be enforced - the present crock of sh*t is driving the fans away!!! - got to say though like Johnny Nelson !!!

All very well but what if there is a legit injury? What happens to all the boxers on the bill who suddenly find themselves out of work? What about the people who have paid to go to the event? Is is still not a problem with the promoters and not Sky?

Sky demanding better quality can only be a good thing. So long as they are willing to pay for it of course.

Lenny I see your point!!!

However - Sky need to be more consistent with their "quality control" - in the past they have had one rule for one and one rule for another!!!

I have been with Hennessy and Fight Academy when a late withdrawl has happened and its caused nightmares with TV executives turning opponents down and even the BBBofC turning them down - yet another certain promoter seems to do what he wants!!!

Because that other promoter has had a Hatton/Calzaghe/Khan is his stable for future fights I imagine.

But yes everyone is in agreement that the quality has to improve.
To be honest i'm not sure Sky's output can get any worse

I am confused by Sky.
Burkinshaw v Haskins is good enough to headline, but when Moore pulls out ill, Napa v Davies isn't good enough to headline and the whole show's pulled.
Can someone explain the logic of that cos I simply don't get it.

The reasoning behind Moore bill it was not down as a boxing day, it was done as additional for Moore only. Davis v Napa is on in Sept I read this in boxing news.
