NO WAY! :o

This is fantastic news if it's true. Haye has a much, much, much better chance against Valuev. Oh, and cue the David vs Goliath media.

still easier than the German version  it appears Haye doesnt want to agree to Klitschko's terms. Of course this piece comes from the BILD newspaper which is a tabloid so maybe its just nothing.
From the way it's written, it seems like it's just to hype Vitali as someone to be scared of. We'll see.

HAYE LOOKS TO SLAY VALUEV ON NOVEMBER 7

*** DAVID HAYE SIGNS CONTRACT TO CHALLENGE WBA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION NIKOLAI VALUEV ON NOVEMBER 7 ***

Former undisputed world cruiserweight champion David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye has signed a contract to meet current World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev on November 7, at a location yet to be decided.

Expected to take place in Germany, ‘The Hayemaker’s scheduled 12-rounder with ‘The Beast From The East’ will pair the world’s most exciting heavyweight commodity with the world’s largest.

“I am thrilled to announce that my dream of becoming world heavyweight champion will be realised on November 7, when I challenge the tallest and heaviest champion of all time, Nikolai Valuev,” said Haye.

Standing at a whopping 7-feet-2-inches tall and weighing a similarly staggering 320-pounds (23 stone), Russian-born Valuev is the tallest and heaviest ever world boxing champion. He has yet to be floored or knocked out in his 16-year professional career.

Currently 50-1 (34 KO) as a pro, ‘The Beast From The East’ has proven his heavyweight credentials with wins over John Ruiz (twice), Evander Holyfield and Monte Barrett. The 35-year-old will be making the second defence of his second reign as WBA champion when he meets British hope Haye.

“Valuev’s known as ‘The Beast From The East’ and there’s a reason he’s got that nickname - he’s a big, ugly, sweaty and hairy man from the Eastern Bloc,” said Haye, who has weighed as low as 189-pounds (13st 7lbs) in his seven-year pro career and stands at a comparatively minute 6-feet-3-inches.

“Valuev is eight stone heavier than me and a foot taller than me. David only needed a slingshot and a stone to flatten Goliath, and I’m convinced my right hand generates more power than a stone.”

Having spent the best part of 2009 negotiating contracts with both Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, Haye is eager to put the record straight on why he won’t be opposing one of the brothers in his next bout.

“There were reports in the German press that I had signed to fight Vitali Klitschko in September, but those reports were never true,” explained Haye.

“There have been long and exhausting discussions about the clash, but unfortunately I could never put my name to the fight contract the Klitschkos offered. The level of disrespect they have shown me throughout has left me feeling insulted.

“As for signing the contract, now that I realise just how much support and interest I have from the people in Germany, it would have been like selling my soul to the devil. I will not be a slave fighter.”

Despite the disappointment of the Klitschko bout falling through, Haye remains upbeat at the opportunity of knocking out Valuev and securing a future unification showdown with either brother.

“Once I have snatched Valuev’s title, I will be happy to battle out heavyweight supremacy with the Klitschkos, but only on equal and fair terms,” said Haye.

“As the WBA heavyweight champion, I should be able to meet them without having to sign my life away. Beating Valuev and taking his WBA title is my best chance of securing unification.

“I only hope the Klitschkos still want to fight me after I have slayed ‘The Beast’.”

Set to concede upwards of 110-pounds (8st) in weight on November 7, Haye is a former WBC, WBA and WBO cruiserweight (200-pounds or 14st 4lbs) champion who thrives on the task in hand. Ever since emulating Holyfield and unifying the cruiserweight division in 2008, Haye has been earmarked as potential saviour of the heavyweights.

The 28-year-old Haye, 22-1 (21 KO), exploded on the world heavyweight scene last November with a fifth-round stoppage of common opponent Barrett. He promises a similar result on November 7.

“I can’t wait to step into the ring on November 7 and prove that size doesn’t matter,” said Haye. “Mark my words: I will be the first man to knock Nikolai Valuev out.”

*** ‘DAVID VS. GOLIATH’, the world heavyweight title blockbuster between David Haye and Nikolai Valuev, will be screened live and exclusively in the United Kingdom on Sky Box Office ***

haye only had a 5% chance of beating vitali, a 20% chance of beating wladimir, and maybe a 60% chance of slaying valuev, its got to be the best option, then, should david win, he has then got more negotiating powers with the klitschkos because he will hold a big belt.

Provided he doesn't get hit, and with Valuev's speed compared to Haye's he shouldn't, it will be a lot easier than a fight with either Klitschko.
David will do well tos top him though.
I also think David Price will again prove useful sparring.

Because after talking a good fight & wearing the infamous t-shirt holding both of their heads aloft he got them that angry he decided Valuev would be a safer option.

The last person Valuev knocked out was Monte Barrett in 2006.

So Haye pulled out against Vitali and Wlad.

This coming from a guy who talked obscene amounts of shite about both of them, and he had chances to fight both and backed out. This latest back out is a bit much from Haye. I don't think he fancied the job against Vitali, despite all his talk.

The Valuev fight is very winnable for Haye. Valuev is slow and ponderous.

By far the best move for Haye.

We all know that the Klits love belts and if Haye wins then his fight with either of the brothers will be absolutely massive! He will be able to negotiate from a strong standpoint and will do a lot better financially out of it.

Haye can certainly beat Valuev but it is still the toughest fight of his career by a long long way

It's frustrating, no doubt - but if Haye genuinely thought the terms for the Vitali fight were a bit shit, then I don't blame him for not wanting to sign. He's no fool, he knows that fight is a huge risk and he wants a decent pay day.

I would say Mormeck was his toughest fight by a country mile! Valuev is shite.

It's a calculated risk. If he wins he can call out the Klit brothers from a position of relative strength, but if he loses they are evidently going to offer him an even worse deal given that the marquee value of the fight will have plummeted. Plus he has left Vitali without an opponent for September and probably without a venue given that a replacement is hardly going to warrant a football stadium. So defeat could be a career death knell.

Valuev is an oaf, but if you look at his record it doesn't bode well for confidence building. He's never been put on his arse and he's won shed-loads of decisions in Germany. David might just need to knock him out - but will he be able to?

I knew deep down Haye would be like this, all his billy big bollocks, slagging the Klitschkos off, eff him I hope he gets pulverised.

I think Mormeck was his toughest to date but he was smaller than Haye and I always thought Haye had a great chance of knocking him out.

Valuev has a good chin and clearly has huge physical advantages over Haye. Yes he is slow and doesn't possess the power he should but he will fancy testing Hayes chin and stamina.

He clearly pulled out of the Wlad fight due to money, anyone would have done the same. I am sure he tried to re-negotiate with Wlad and Vitali as well, but he is making the correct career move by going for Valuev.

If he wins, he has a massive bargaining chip in the WBA belt, when it comes to making a deal with the Klits for a unification bout.

I am pissed off that the Wlad-Haye fight never came off, but going for a world title in his 3rd heavyweight fight is not too shabby, plus you know if he wins, it will be the Klits he goes after.

Rather than criticise Haye for trying to make big fights happen, I would rather applaud him for not worrying about his record but instead going after the best fights and if they fall through, trying to do the next best thing.

I am glad that British boxing has Haye and Froch who want to fight the best in their divisions.

Some people were suggesting Haye go for Holyfield, Mcall or Maskaev after the Wlad fight fell through. This is 100X better and also sets up huge unification bouts with the Klits should he win
