If you thought OUR refereeing could be suspect...

Does boxing need a second referee/observer at ringisde? Compare to the "ear biting" incident recently with Chisora.

The ref simply isn't paying attention to the downed fighter.

I've seen it before, but hadn't seen the aftermath. I want someone to destroy Billy Dib. What an absolute prick.

The referee was really unprofessional. He didn't have control of the bout from the start. The fact that he didn't disqualify, or even penalise, Dib just shows how poor he was. Awful, awful referee.

Completely agree, i nearly sparked me laptop after seeing that. An undeserved victory.

Hope Dib gets laid out.

I'm not sure the punch from Dib was intentional as it did happen very quickly (not saying it DEFINITELY wasn't intentional), but what on earth was the ref doing?? At best, he's utterly incompetent, at worst he could be corrupt.

You might argue an immediate DQ would not have been warranted given the speed of the incident and the ref not having the benefit of a replay, but at the very least the Japanese opponent deserved the standard recovery period of up to 5 minutes, not to be counted out! While the intent or not of Dib's action cannot be clear, how the ref failed to act appropriately when one boxer takes a full power shot while on his knees, with his back to his opponent, is just inexplicable.

And as for Dib's pushing and shoving afterwards, what a tool. If Aussie boxing wants to be taken seriously, he will have to be penalised somehow.

That was bloody awful -- it's so difficult to defend boxing against accusations of home cooking when stuff like that happens.

I would like to add to the chorus of people who'd like to see Billy Dib sparked, & also put in a vote for someone to deck those tools in his corner (the one without the beard who thought he'd join in after Billy showed us his class).

I really think that it was intentional as well -- Dib's whole reaction after the fight spoke volumes in my opinion & when he hit him he changed the entire angle of his body, shifted his weight then he punched the Japanese guy (who'd slipped anyway!).

What a horrible little shite.

The fight was changed to a 'No Contest' thanks to the New South Wales boxing commission.

Good, that is the fairest result. Yamaguchi should not have this L on his record, while Dib could argue that the shot was unintentional (only he knows the truth). Therefore this is the logical conclusion, and I'm glad the NSW comm did take action.

I would now like to see the referee called in for interview.

What an idiot, and I can't stand it when boxers wrap themselves in 'intercontinental belts', Dib had a WBO, IBF, IBO and WBC version on him like he was some kind of unified champion. Nob.

Have to say that the quality of that vid was superb.

I think its a good idea. I think ref's shouldnt judge you see some bad decisions with that. Judges should just focus on refing imo

i think i must have been watching a different video to you mate.

the guy comes in throwing punches and his opponent is down, more from a slip than anything, dib goes to throw the right when the downed boxer is on his hands and knees, reconsiders, possibly because he was out of range whilst on the floor, then, when the guy gets to his knees, dib reaches around with the left and clocks him one. i fail to see any way to dispute that if was a flagrant intentional foul that, in my opnion, warrants instant dismissal

Exactly, it was blatantly intentional and he should have been chucked out - and the corrupt ref was looking right at him when he did it, he should be banned before he gets someone killed, as he's obviously got a short circuit in his brain somewhere.
And the numbskull commentators??! All they could do was say he won with a "ripper" of punch, then smile at the end and say congratulations. Jesus....

a load of australian sh*t. Just got back from South East Asia, loads of the tossers over there. Loud, Loud and VERY boring.

The ref was a disgrace, the boxer was a disgrace, the cocks*cker of an interviewer was the worst though. His boxing terminology includes phrases like "ripper".....and, when lost for words, refers to a punch as "a hit".......no you f*cking moron...use hit as a verb.....call a punch a f*cking punch, or an uppercut, or a right cross etc etc ....not hits and rippers.

Fckin tossbag.

He even congratulated him after watching the whole thing again and seeing the illegal blow.

A farce from start to finish , I so couldn't live there.

I posted about this before.

It's completely disgusting viewing and they all should be ashamed of themselves. Wasn't Dib outboxed by someone too? He's not even unbeaten. Well, add me to the list of people waiting to see him KO'd on youtube :geek2:

I admit it looks terrible, especially on replay, and was probably intentional but it did happen very quickly.

Shocking stuff...should have been an instant DQ. Usually I'd wish most people good luck in what they do, but with Dibb, who clearly has no shame, let's hope he gets what's coming to him because the other guy could have been very seriously hurt. :shame:
