im not sure if this is a good idea, maybe for the sparring and kevs defence could certainly tighten, but i reckon this could create friction in an otherwise harmonious camp.

this will do his defence no harm at all, will be good to see him back in action.

It's good news for anyone to get the decent sparring he will get in there, can't do him much harm to be in the most on-form gym in the world at the mo, there will be a buzz about the place and he should learn from it.

Well, this would clear the way for a Kevin Mitchell - Nicky Cook all-British clash with some added spice to boot.

Its good news for Kevin Mitchell, but its not so good for some of our top trainers. Harrison lost out when Khan moved away and now Cook will too.
I understand that Freddie is a 'world class' trainer, but we need to be supporting the british trainers more! At this rate James DeGale and Frankie Gavin will be training with Freddie Roach by next summer.

& what's wrong with that if it's better for the fighter in question & they learn more than they did at home?
People have been saying stuff like "{Boxer XYZ} should go out to America, spar some Mexicans & Yanks" for donkeys' years. I would applaud anyone who gave it a go & wish them the best.

I agree to some extent and definitley wish them the best. But my point was more that some seem to believe that Freddie Roach and American trainers are the be all and end all. He's the current flavour of the month (and perhaps rightly so), but there are still some very good trainers over here.
We'll see if it works out for Kevin, it didn't for Dunne and Arthur in the long run, but your point about the sparring is a good one.
I guess I just didnt want to get too carried away as if training at the wildcard is a given for success.

Oh, I agree -- I wonder what has happened to half the population of Manila that Roachie boy was training at one point? Like the kiddie (Bautista was it?) who got done in a round by Poncé De Leon? -- but fair play to the lad for giving it the go, I say. When I first started following boxing, no British boys were eager to do it apart from Nigel Benn.
& it certainly did all right for Nige, like.

You should know by now that you don't have to beat anybody to deserve a title shot when you have the right promoter.

walter estrada is decent.johanneson..mitchell is ranked number 1 in wbo..ricky burns is ranked number 3 and he is very average..would you rather have him fighting for the title or kev mitchell who has the potential to become the best super featherweight in the world..the divison is decent but not too strong

you would say that

IMO there isnt much difference between our trainers and theirs. However i do think its a good idea to travel stateside to spar and learn as well. Arnie any plans to take Gavin to states to do some work?
Agreed. In my previous posts what I was trying to highlight was that retaining your trainer but maybe travelling for better sparring is the way forward.
