Hi
Thanx for confirming that Peter is dead.
Both Box-rec and Wikipedia have him as living.
I read he was never the same after fighting Kid Gavilan and that Dennis didnt go to his funeral.
I just needed confimation,
Thanx Martin

He was never the same after a botched brain op. I cannot remember the exact details of the op and why he needed it but it was thought to be fairly routine (or as routine as a brain op can be).

I thought he suffered a brain heamorrage after his last fight and that is what ended his careeer. He probably needed a brain op due to that. I think Dennis Waterman mentions what happened to Peter in his autobiography.

Peter died in 1986. He suffered alcoholism and had brain surgery to correct an ongoing injury suffered in a fight with Dave Charnley years before.

He was from Clapham in South West London, and was massively respected amongst his peers.

Peter was a very intelligent man, Olympian and talented boxer. He was also a very cultured and kind man.

His younger brother, Dennis, is a well known actor in the UK.

Cheers, John, for clearing that up.
