Three fighters immediately came to mind for me:

Tommy Ryan and SSR are both remembered as middleweight champions, but were probably better at welterweight.

Ezzard Charles won the heavyweight title, but he was arguably the greatest light-heavyweight who ever lived.

I considered Tunney, but are you sure he qualifies? I know he took the title, which he failed to do at the lower weight, but keep well in mind he had just three title fights at Heavyweight, with only a handful of others at Heavy (albeit, against commendable opposition).

In an 85+ bout career, I say Tunney accomplished more at Light-Heavy than Heavy.
