Brits you have wanted to see beaten...

...by international opponents.

I don't mean the odd time when you wanted a great to beat a Brit because you've always liked them (e.g. some wanting Barrera over Naz).

I mean when you've wanted a Brit to be beaten by ANY international opponent because you really dislike them. Some people won't get what I mean because nationality is irrelevant - but to me, I almost always get behind a Brit for reasons which can not be argued logically.

I say this because it's now obvious some of you couldn't wait to see Witter get beaten; Khan the same.

Who else was/is there?

i don't think i can recall ever wanting a brit to lose against overseas comp. maybe i don't have the necessary hate-gene.

I generally always support the Brit and always have, particularly Khan, Lennox and Naz, whom a lot of people have wanted to see beaten for one reason or another.

I must admit though, I wasn't overly fussed about seeing Witter beaten by Bradley and Alexander because of his attitude. He's done himself no favours over the years.

NAZ was the one i always wanted to see get a good hammering because of his demeaning attitude to opponents and his big headedness, two very bad faults to an otherwise brilliant fighter,I jumped for joy when he got stuffed

the carl froch hype kinda pisses me off a bit.

he's being put on a pedestal by some around here and it needs taking down a peg or two.

dirrell will soon sort that little issue out though. :D

although when the night comes i'll probably want froch to kick his ass.

just like i wanted froch to bash pascal and taylor when it came to the night of the fight. :box:

the barrera fight was sweet.

he was so exposed in that fight.

not only did barrera win but he showed the way to do it.

really set the blueprint.

no wonder naz disappeared after that one.

The difference between Froch and some others is that he deserves the mofoing pedestal position though, yes? He'll fight anyone, anywhere and has done the business in two huge struggles of late against two world class opponents.

I'm definitely rooting for the big nosed boot smoker from Gedling! :TU:

i'm not saying he doesn't deserve credit.

he does. :TU:

despite getting away with it a bit against taylor. :oo

but his fans coupled with the man's arrogance has definitely set him up for a fall.

he ain't beating dirrell in a million yrs anyway. :shame:

then kessler to box his head off and then he'll have to concede that calzaghe was always shedloads better than he is.

The only Brit fighter who I have always cheered against as far as I remember is Eubank but that's because I'm a Benn fan.

Yeah, it's weird and typically British that most people were only getting behind Eubank when he was on the slide.

yeah loads of hype leading into every froch fight. massive build up and loads of hype. i didn't like him when he was on sky, for what it's worth. but i don't mind his cockiness when he's delivering v world class foes, or even when inkin and taylor were avoiding him.

i was referring to the hype given by the boxing fans on here and a few other places actually. :D

Calzaghe against most of his international opponents.
Froch against most of his international opponents.
Witter against most of his international opponents.
Khan against Barrera.

Never Naz, Lewis, Hatton, Haye or Woods.

Nationaility means f-all to me. I'll support the guy I like, regardless of where he comes from.

I'm now sold on Froch and a big fan, by the way. It sounds weird, but I'll support him from this point on, no matter who he's up against. I also warmed to Calzaghe during the Lacy and Kessler fights and was more or less a fan by the end - though the Jones and Hopkins fights left a sour taste.

Whenever Chisora fights I want him to lose, regardless of who he is fighting. I really can't stand the guy.

Apart from that, I nearly always go for the Brit apart from one off situations like MAB v Khan where I wanted to see MAB roll back the years, just because he is a legend.

Scott Harrison. Probably mainly because I had money on a Polo points win and the draw robbed me of quite a bit of cash. That and he handed out a fairly savage beating to McCullough who was always one of my favourites.

Calzaghe I've always found annoying but I don't think I ever really hoped he'd lose. Apart from the Jones Jnr fight where I just didn't want to have people believe Joe was the better fighter.

I know what you mean, Neil. Not sure why. I could have made a fortune backing against English fighters/sports teams (especially my own, Middlesbrough) when you just KNOW they are going to lose but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Was rooting for Pacman v Hatton and anyone v Khan but other than that i'll get behind the Brits.

ALTHOUGH

If those Walsh Brothers get anywhere (mainly Michael), i hope he gets smashed to bits.

Can't think of any from the past, I usually back the British fighter.

Saying that, I wouldn't mind seeing Ryan Rhodes get upset by some unknown foreigner, even though I am a Yorkshire lad.

I think It would serve him right for blatantly ducking the Anthony Small fight. Unless theres something about that situation I don't know about.
