ive just watched this fight it didnt have any post fight interviews so could someone please fill me in why it was stopped as torres didnt look in trouble he was losing but the ref seemed to just stop it. calzaghe and the commentators didnt seem to know why

Calzaghe threw his punches in bunches because his trainer and father, Enzo, worked out long ago that referees will stop a fight if one fighter is throwing a load of shots (even of the slappy variety, as in some of Calzaghe's fights and I presume the Torres fight) and the other fighter, so preoccupied with defence, is not throwing back.
We saw a classic example of this in the Calzaghe-Manfredo fight. Manfredo was in no real distress but wasn't throwing back because Calzaghe was throwing those prolonged bunches. Sure enough, the ref dived in.

Wow. Never seen the fight but it was really odd ending. Of course, Torres wasn't going to last more than a few more rounds. How the WBO could have Torres rated so high before the Calzaghe fight was amazing and should have warranted an investigation. He looked worse than the average amateur and he showed it after the Calzaghe fight, losing his next three fights by quick KOs and dropping nine of his last 18 by KO.
