Ricky Hatton has bust-up with girlfriend and Police have to break them up
Exclusive by Simon Wright 30/08/2009
Boxer Ricky Hatton has been quizzed by police over a drunken bust-up with his girlfriend.
The world champion fighter and his long-term partner, nursery nurse Jennifer Dooley, screamed abuse at each other in the early hours.
Hatton and Jennifer, both 30, traded insults for several minutes before a neighbour in Hyde, Greater Manchester, called the police.
One neighbour, who didn't want to be named, said: "Ricky was effing and blinding at her - it woke us all up. There was a hell of a noise. At some point the police were called. When they arrived they took Ricky into the back of their van and escorted his girlfriend back inside to calm her down. It was a pretty sad sight."
Neither Hatton, who was admitted to hospital with an irregular heartbeat last month, nor Jennifer were charged. But both were reprimanded by officers.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Officers arrived at an address last Saturday to discover a domestic dispute on-going between Ricky Hatton and a female. It was clear both had been drinking heavily.
"The female was asked if she had been assaulted and she said she had not. She was asked if she wanted to make a formal complaint and she said she did not. The officers were content no crime had been committed and left."
The bust-up is the latest in a string of rows which have blighted their sixyear relationship. Last July Hatton infuriated Jennifer after being photographed by the Sunday Mirror with a mystery blonde in a Spanish nightclub.
In November he angered her again by choosing to party with Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher in Brazil rather than spend a romantic holiday with her.

Same here. I seem to remember rumours of trouble between them leading up to one of his recent fights.

I noticed on some preview footage and between fights kind of footage, that Hatton often seemed to have what looked like scratch marks on his face.

Shes a nursery nurse? I had read early she was a business lecturer. Maybe shes telling fibs. Not that any of that really matters though
While were on the topic of girlfriends, Carl Froch's is the most attention seeking one there is. She even said she was using their relationship to get a job in TV presenting.

Exactly. Not exactly the most unusual thing I've ever read. Whatever next, "Ricky Hatton takes a long, loud piss after drinking beer"?

Yeah, so he's as boring outside of the ring as he is in it.

Most boxer typically only get shallow women so thats not a suprise. Plus Froch maybe a champ but he ain't as popular as the footballers to be getting her presenting jobs.

on boxingranks, hopkins answered some questions from the fans one time. one guy said his wife wasn't giving him any and what to do? hopkins' reply was far from wholesome or respectful. i'm not going to repeat what he said. you never really know what he could get up to, talking like that. obviously though he's good athlete, stays in shape, seemingly in control of his body and his life.

well the way boxing is, you can only get on TV if your promoter has a TV contract, which means the promoters who had the foresight to sign with sky.

I haven't been around the forums for a while, but I didn't see the bit about him having been admitted to hospital for an irregular heartbeat. I thought at the time they said it was vomiting and a potential gastric bug? Strange, because I don't think those two things go hand in hand.
Irregular heartbeat for a healthy lad like Ricky suggests too much partying.

Hasn't he always had an irregular heartbeat though?
I'm sure he mentioned once that there was some concern over whether he'd even get a licence when he was looking to turn pro because the doctors had noticed an irregular heartbeat.
