Enzo Maccarenellis career will continue later this year when he fights in Liverpool Echo Arena.

However his career looks on the decline and he looks to be on the downward slide.

It all started with the make or break fight with David Haye where he was blasted away in 2 rounds.

Since then his confidence seems to have suffered and the Calzaghe training camp with the reitrement of Joe Calzaghe fell apart and at one stage he was training by himself lifting beer barrels ina nightclub.

He switched trainers to Karl Ince to try and find the improvement.

However including the Haye fight he has now been stopped in 3 of his last proper fights (ignoring the Matthew Ellis mismatch).

But just how good was a Prime Enzo.

We know what happened when he stepped in the ring with Haye.

But lets say Enzos prime was when he joined the Calzaghe Camp and seem to have made vast improvement.

His prime wins were when he blasted away Mark Hobson in a rematch and when he flattened Dominguez with a huge uppercut and outpointed Wayne Braithwaite by a wide points decsion.

That Maccarenelli was at the height his confidence and talking about unifying WBC / WBA / IBF titles.

Take Haye out of the equation who seemed to be the man who destroyed Macca's career.

How would a prime Enzo before he got hammered by Haye how would he have fared against the likes of...............

Because he was thrown in straight with the best Crusierweight David Haye and got destroyed

But what if he was managed a bit less ambtious and went in with the lesser Champions

I still think Mormeck would have had too much for him and stopped him in about 5 rounds................

Cunnigham would have worn him down and stopped him in 8 rounds also.............

Frogemeni would have been a interesting fight see how he would have fared against a guy that pushed Haye so close to defeat.

The harsh truth is though Enzo never fought any of these prime guys in his career

He fought a faded Dominguez and Braithwaite

The only prime guy he fought was Hayemaker who slaughtered him

You know how Sports Network create their own World Champions it dont mean they are really top class

Hey I thought early on in their careers that Enzo against Haye was a 50 / 50 fight

But after seeing Haye wipe the floor with Tomas Bonin and Jean Marc Mormeck I knew deep down he was on another level to Enzo

I still picked Enzo to win their fight - but that was more letting the heart rule the head

Deep down I suspected Haye was a complete level above Enzo

Haye bossed the build up to the fight

He turned up for the official announcement in casual Hat and T-Shirt while Enzo was dressed up in a posh suit

Then at the final press conference Enzo turned up in some flashy Hat and Top like Haye had done previously

But Haye didnt turn up he was sleeping in bed

Enzo just wasnt confident or good enough to beat Haye unfortunately

For the WBO title, he fought guys like Hobson, Gunn and Azzaoui.

In other words he wasn't fighting the guys you mention.

He was good enough to beat lower class fighters like Hobson and Gunna dn Azzaoui

He wasnt good enough to beat top class fighter like Haye
