Martin Rogan's rematch against Sam Sexton has been postponed until Friday 6th November because the Irishman has a back injury, but Sexton believes it is only delaying the inevitable. The Belfast heavyweight was due to meet Commonwealth Champion Sexton on October 6th at the Odyssey, but Rogan injured his back in a training session and requires rest and physiotherapy before resuming training again. Sexton, 25, scored a controversial eighth round stoppage at the Odyssey in May when Rogan was unable to continue because of a badly swollen eye. Norwich puncher Sexton says he's ready to do the same again to Rogan..
He said, "What Rogan is doing is only delaying the inevitable which is another victory for me."
"As the champion I have gone beyond the call of duty to accommodate Rogan to the point of going back to the challenger's back yard for him to try and get his old title back,"
"I've also heard him make certain allegations against me that were unjust and uncalled for at the press conference which I would ask he rectify,"
"It's common knowledge that he has had a change of camp and trainer which I can't understand. If he was so sure he won the last fight then why change what was not wrong?"
"He has four weeks to mend his injured back and then face me again on a level platform and we both have the chance to put right any wrongs,"
"I am in prime condition and I need to keep active so he needs to make sure this four weeks are used wisely."
Tickets purchased for the original date of October 6th will be vaild for the new date.
The October 6th date will now go to the rising star of British boxing, Nathan Cleverly, who defends his British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles against Liverpool's Courtney Fry.
Welshman Cleverly, was due to meet Fry on the Odyssey Arena undercard, but now headlines the York Hall at Bethnal Green with the first defence of his British title that he won in July against Danny McIntosh and the fourth defence of his Commonwealth belt.
The 23-year-old is a hot favourite to land the prestigious Boxing Writers' Best Young Boxer of the Year award and is in the running with fellow hot prospect Kell Brook.

Me too. The more time Sexton has to get in shape (and maybe the more time Rogan isn't getting beasted in Breen's gym) the advantage moves to the superior technical boxer.

I saw that myself, the sky schedule has mcloskey v mbaye in Belfast on Nov 6th, there is no mention of the Rogan-Sexton fight on their schedule.

Sky have a matchroom date that night and at present matchroom have taken it up with McCloskey/M'Baye and Rogan/Sexton crazily at present is still going ahead on the same date with no tv coverage.
Both fights will be in Northern Ireland with McCloskey taking place there as well.
Neither side is backing down Matchroom or Alledgely promotions so could be an interesting evening for Northern Ireland Boxing fans, think Tyson may be on a tour there that night as well if memory serves

John Breen told me on Monday that they will be on the same night (McCloskey was due to be "somewhere in Ireland" at this point) and he was laughing because he will have fighters on both cards.
This seems a no-win situation for anybody. Having TV shows on at the same time (SKY V ITV etc.) is one thing but staging two big boxing bills in a small city like Belfast on the same night doesn't make any sense.

Hopefully common sense will prevail and the two will be split to different dates.

I hope some decision will be made soon as I have tickets for the Rogan fight and tickets for the Tyson tour for the same night! I hope the Rogan fight gets pushed back. I tried to get a refund on the Rogan tickets at the weekend but was told that Ticketmaster had not issued a refund code yet and to come back next weekend. Maybe the Rogan fight will be pushed back or I have been fobbed off.

This fight shouldn't even be in Belfast again anyway. Make it London I say.

Also, Celtic are playing away to Hamburg on the 5th Nov, I had 3 mates drop out of the Rogan fight due to the date change as they had already planned to travel to Germany for the Celtic match....
It all sounds like a mess, it would be a farce to try and have all of those fights on the same night....
