Should the Board mandate a Fury-McDermott rematch?

Even if you are one of the minority who thought Fury won...what do you think?
Let's see if we can get a lot of people voting on this thread.

Nah mate - they will rip off McDermott again and again - and Fury doesn't have what it takes to beat
McDermott anytime soon anyway.
Big John would have to knock him out to 'win'
The question is - should the board mandate the revoking of the licence of Terry O'Connor - I thought we got rid of the main idiot when Paul Thomas retired.

There's always one...
Just let Richie or Howard ref it. Or have three judges and start as they mean to go on.
The Commonwealth Board did exactly the right thing with Sexton-Rogan so hopefully (especially if we get plenty of people voting on here), the BBBoC will do so too.

Blimey, two...obviously there'll be more.
I sort of understand Carlos' twisted logic but even those on here who thought Fury won seem to think he did so very narrowly and that a rematch wouldn't be out of order.
I can only think those who don't want a rematch either know very little about boxing, are trolls or are huge Fury fans who don't want to fight McD again (understandable).

I don't know if you remember the Johnny Armour vs Francis Ampofo fights where Ampofo was ripped off three times on the bounce. There are obvious shenanigans going on behind the Fury 98-92 descion and how deep does the corruption run?
I personally don't see why McDermott should gift Fury another win - thats what would happen. I just hope McDermott gets to top the bill in a few bouts against decent American opposition and then aim for a British title shot (when the title becomes vacant)

I must be too naive...or maybe I don't want to believe it.
But there's no way McDermott would get anything other than a fair shake from Richie or Howard.
Richie doesn't give a f*ck who you are - small, big, black, white - you get what you get.
Howard is the same. This is the guy who threw out Matthew Hatton in the last round of a British title eliminator against Alan Bosworth when he was miles ahead because he wouldn't behave. The Hattons and their entourage nearly lynched him but he'd do the same again.
The worry I have is that John will, understandably, just assume he's going to get ripped off and will underperform. Presumably Fury's flapping mouth will again give him motivation though.

Well, you may not be able to read or comprehend written English but I thought McDermott won that fight handsomely.
I am a big fan of McDermott and I don't see why he should sacrifice another win on the altar of Tyson Fury?
Big John isn't getting a break anytime soon from crappy officials - or do we need a 4th fight on the bounce to prove it.
It all depends on if you have trust in the officials in this country nowadays - I certainly don't.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. I do understand your logic but if you ask John, I think he'd risk a rematch.

Yeah, I was surprised. Like I say, I'm probably too naive. Or just like to see the best in people.
Maybe I'm just a sucker.

No offence Ian, you are not a sucker.
You are a good man.
But ... the damage is already done and it's not your fault.

Yes there should be a mandated rematch if Fury wants to keep hold of the title.

Personally I am one of the few who actually had fury winning, but it was a close fight and I would not have been surprised had mcdermott got the decision.
The commentary team at sky were very biased towards Mcdermott and I think too many viewers are influenced by the comments made by Jim Watt especially. I had the fight even after 4 rounds, yet Jim wat scored it 3-1 to mcdermott, the remaining 6 rounds he scored 3-3.
If you watch the fight again with no commetary from Jim Watt and Ed Robinson and score the fight again I think many of you will see Fury was the one throwing the MAJORITY of the punches.
Fury threw over 200 punches more than Mcdermott and thats what swung the decision in his favour.
The 8-2 scorecard from the referee was pure bullshit though and the ref should be disciplined.
As a fighter if Fury was going to be a world beater he would have stopped John Mcdermott inside 5 rounds,
i
On the stats fury got something like 18% landed. I think Mcdermott was closer to 30%...
Thats right its not the punches thrown its whats landed and the stats said fury landed fewer but are these so called stats accurate its only 2 men pressing buttons. not exactly computerised is it

since when do you score a bout subhect to punches thrown? its about quality of the shots not arm punches!!!!!

Exactly. Any boxing fan would know that its all about punches landed, rather than thrown!
Ditto. And if they'd actually seen the comparative QUALITY of the shots as Neil says, then they'd certainly say McD.

I completely agree, Howard Foster is our best ref and Richie is bloody good as well. This fight has obviously damaged McDermotts confidence having won the fight but lost the decision. He knows he would have to KO Fury to be sure he was declared the winner.
