Time sure flys doesn't it. Really thought he would get that elusive title right up till the finish in the Brewer fight. One of my favorites.

the best brit never to win a world title.he fought in high class throughout aswell.Benn,eubank and watson would nt touch bomber with a barge poll.

Bomber was responsible for me getting hooked on boxing,he was my all time favourite brit and when he first lost to kalambay i was gutted,he was one of the most avoided and unlucky fighters ever.When he got his title chances he had to fight two of the very best middles around at the time,was taking julian jackson apart until that punch which would have ko'd a horse and would have got a draw against mccallum but lost a point for pushing,so unlucky

As I've said a few times, he works as a fitness trainer at a Sheffield gym. Looks well, incredibly fit.

Always been one of my favourite fighters and I was lucky enough to meet him earlier this year and as Ian said, he's looking incredibly well for his age. Really decent, down-to-earth guy... though I suspect I was a bit too enthusiastic about meeting him as at one point he turned around and said, "You know more about my career than I do!"

I remember travelling on the bus to Donny as a nipper, 2p for me I think 10 p for my mum and Herol's face would beam out from the adverts on the bus telling kids not to graffiti the bus.

That'd be about 84-85 I suppose.

Had me chuckling for ages - even rang my dad up to tell him that one. He once said to me "I am not the biggest boxing fan in the world, but I could always apprecoate true class in the ring - and Bomber Graham was PURE class"

He was a classy fighter, but his chin let him down on the big stage.

Technically very gifted and a nice guy as well. His movement was frightening. Shame he never kept it together in the big fights though, as it`s results that count.

With regards to the point deduction in the Mike McCallum fight, from memory, Graham "spun" McCallum, as opposed to "turning" him.

He was old and tired when Brewer got him; Frank Grant could really crack (I can't even remember the nature of that stoppage, actually); and Julian Jackson...well that punch would have knocked out a fecking horse.

Actually, maybe his chin wasn't that great...then again I can't really remember seeing him be hit on it very often!

just about every time it happened- almost all after his 30th birthday i am sure- he was on dodgy-ish legs, as i recall. kalumbay had him out on his feet i think at the end of their second fight?

The Jackson punch would have floored anyone, but not everyone would have been hit by it either. He got careless and he got caught.

A good chin for me is being able to take a shot and get the head clear again quickly. Get the legs steadied again.
It is not about getting knocked down. Bruno was never really knocked out or down, but he took some heavy beatings against Smith, Lewis, Witherspoon and Tyson. I would say his chin/defense was dodgy, as when under fire he could not handle it, his defence went and he lost the ability to stay in there.

Calzaghe on the other hand has a rock solid chin. He has been put down on several occasions, but never looked badly shaken.

Nothing wrong with Graham's chin. In the first Kalambay fight, Herol (by his standards) practically fought with his face and went the full 12 rounds and Kalambay was world class.

went to watch him at the city hall vs kalule when he won the euro title, he was majestic that night, will never forget asking my grandad to take me round the market to get a glimpse of him at his jewellry stall, i was only a kid...he was my idol as a little un,...on the downside i sent him a friend request with a short message on facebook last year and he ignored it, the b@stard!!.......seriously, he was a quality fighter

no offence mate but i really dont think ignoring your "friend request" on facebook diminishes herol one iota. but its quite amusing
