the recent tragedy involving darren and spud mentioning the aston/booth fall out has triggered me into this thread. times when the forum has been absolutely

1. the recent darren sutherland memory thread is head and shoulders emotionally above anything ive ever read on a forum...... :verysad:

2. the aston/booth arguments were absolutely legendary status...have they ever spoken since?

3. the farnell/alexander threads were also superb drama

4. the 'photocopier' threads were also great fun, for myself, simpsons and carlos anyway... :TU:

5.the maloney/spud/rhino/carey argument was full of passion and accusation.

any more anyone?

Rhino - believe it or not I have chilled one hell of a lot - the Darren Sutherland threads have been extremely humbling for me - reading the the threads where he had participated and then the subsequent tragic events afterwards and then seeing Frank the way he was in that interview Eric kindly put up for us - puts the rest of the complete and utter b*llocks into the insignificant rubbish bin!!!

Serious - it really has put things into perspective how lucky I have been in life and to simply be grateful.

unsuitable. The boy's only been deceased 48 hours. Doesn't need to be topping "most emotional threads on Boxrec" at this, or any stage in the future. IMO. Although I don't think for one second it was meant in a distasteful way.

in fact looking at the tiltle of the thread again, favourite Boxrec threads ever, I think I might have been generous. "Recent" Darren Sutherland thread.....it's still the most active thread on the entire forum you planks.

Rhino & Spudly featured in my favourite one.

It was a couple of years ago.

Rhino had just come limping back from his war with Spud at another site.

Rhino was a near broken man; His one-time best mate Spud had said some very unkind things both to him and about him.

Rhino was getting his own back by running down Spud in here.

I mentioned to Rhino that it seemed sad to break up a great double act, they both deserved and needed each other, and could he ever see them getting back together.

His response was something like "No way! I'd rather be nailed to a burning house by my c*ck than make up with HIM!"

Good to see they are now computer dating again and both in fine form.

:D

Spud has indeed chilled out a lot and I have no problem with him now, but him getting splattered by Paul King was an immense source of enjoyment at the time! :TU:

A good, fun thread was someone on the Current Scene attributing Jeff Lacy's defeat to Calzaghe on the "altitude" in Manchester.

Wasn't there a Rob Calloway thread that ran for years on the Current Scene?

Where to start?

Kevo and Neri coming online in the early hours of the morning after ingested a large amount of alcohol to call out American pro Johnny "Bombs" Carlo.

Khaosai-Galaxy attacking a poster named Boxerbob for criticising Amir Khans win over Kotelnik.

The infamous "Official Post Whoring Thread" in the other sports section.

observer1's classic "you're all racist but you'll deny it anyway" thread.

The whole Libra bet thread was genius and his excuses why he didn't pay up.

Wasn't there a funny thread with some poster who always wrote in captials threatening to beat us all up till someone posted their address and invited him round for a 'chat'???

no, trouble sought, or offered here. I think the thread would have stood perfectly fine without Darren's death getting mentioned. It looks like you've just seen the size of the thread and the condolence messages and you've made a mental jump to other busy threads, but obviously busy for much better reasons. Forgiveable.
Sorted.

So may threads over the years have made me smile, laugh, even.

ESB - Oscar de la Hoya Vs Mike Tyson at 175 pounds, who wins????? was 7 pages of fun (Most made Tyson the favourite, btw)

But my favourite ever was from about 2001 where some poor disturbed soul kept posting a list on every forum on the internet of all the people Lennox Lewis had ducked over the years

it read

1) John Ruiz
2) Herbie Hide
3) Andrew Golota

Right enough boxing, my favourite "personality" threads are

1) The "Spud 'retires' from *deep breath* britishboxing.net, secondsout, ESB, doghouseboxing, boxrec forum" threads and goes out in a blaze of glory, exposing the shenanigans of people within the boxing industry who are all plotting together to bring him down. These threads usually appeared late at night and were quickly taken down by the morning, so only the most avid forum member got to read them all.

2) The "Spud gets angry at 'elitists' on boxing forums" threads where he posts an oddly emotional and somewhat moving thread about getting these over educated troublemakers off the forum ASAP

3) The "Spud gets fired" threads....

4) The "Spud bans Hayabusa" threads

and so on

happy, happy days

I don't even have to have read it to know that's the best thread ever.

Question: Once a loose consensus had been reached in favour of Tyson, did someone ask "OK, but what if he was forced to come down to 168?"

I might start some threads like that here.

i'd love to be able to find that and have a read of it, sounds very amusing, bet there's no quick way to do it though.

It's like crisis and crises.

As an aside, in terms of dumb threads, you could put around 60 percent of the threads on the American forum on that list. You get some really knowledgeable poster on there, but they're drown out by people who believe that unless you're so supportive of a fighter he can do literally anything and you'd still be willing to sup on his p1ss that you're a hater; people writing things like "my bad", whatever that means; and everyone saying that everyone else has been "owned" or "pwned".

Am I starting to sound like Sideshow Bob?

Perhaps not, but anyway, I'm off to listen to HMS Pinafore.

1 Hagler claiming to have had £2000 on Castillo to beat Hatton. Then when he got smashed up actually pretended he had the loot on Hatton... and was writing on here drinking cubra libres from Spain. Massive fail from the boy.

2 Anything from Flint Island regarding Maccarinelli

3 Horse's pound-for-pound updates. Simply unmissable.

he had 200 on somebody a few months back but they got beat.......the week after the 200 - No, it was 2 grand actually, had just been a joke..... ......must be his favourite number or something that's why he's called Hagler2002. It'll come to me, it wasn't very long ago.
