Why does Mayweather seem like he's about to cry?
Thanks, by the way.

Should be a good one, will show how Marquez has carried the weight and whether Mayweather is looking drained from making 144 lbs
Marquez 142, Mayweather 146.

Thought it was at 144?

Same here. I'm not sure even Mayweather was expecting to weigh 146 lbs. None of the presenters have mentioned it as being anything but ordinary though.

That's what seems a bit strange to me, noone has even acknowledged the idea that there is any sort of problem, unyet we all seem to have expected it to be at 144 while all at the weigh- in seem know it was a standard 147lb welter limit. Either we've all been misinformed or something has changed and noone told us...

The original contract was signed at 144 I wonder if after the cancellation some amendments were made?

Good thinking.

If it was supposed to be 144, Floyd would have made 144.

The only pic that Ive seen so far Marquez does not look good at all.
Looks very loose.

Apparently on ESPN it says that Mayweather and Marquez reached an agreement on the weight at the last minute, that Mayweather would pay X amount for every pound he weighed over the limit of 144 lbs.
Mayweather obviously discovered that it wasn't going to be quite so easy to make the weight as he initially thought. War Marquez!

Picture isn't too flattering, I'd say he looked alot better on the scales.

Marquez will look flabbier with more water in him, don't forget. So tomorrow night he is likely to look worse.

If there was a change to the contract at the last minuite, I'm disappointed it wasn't acknowledged by anyone at the weigh- in, seemed like everyone there new it wasn't 144lb limit but just didn't inform the public and left most people a little confused and then they compounded that by continually mentioning how easy both guys made the weight...

It makes it all the more easier for Mayweather, give Marquez a couple of million dollars out of the fortune he is making for this comeback so he doesn't have to boil down and then go after the winner of Pac-Cotto.

You know what they're like, though. They won't mention that Marquez looks a little flabby, or that Mayweather looks more drained than he has in a very long time, or that Marquez was wearing height enhancing trainers and Floyd was wearing socks. They don't satisfy us, the boxing anoraks (copyright Frank Maloney).

That's true. Have you heard about Mayweather's financial woes? If not, here you go:

* Contractual weight was the 147 pound welter limit, but penalties were written into the contract for excess poundage over 144. ”The penalty [for Mayweather] was a significant amount of money,” said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.

$6 million dollars is very little considering what he will make in this & his next fight.

This is pretty shabby stuff from Mayweather. He seems to have gotten it every which way. The closer this fight gets, the more I think that Mayweather will breeze it.
Anyway, this ust in from ESPN:
We had confirmation from Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission yesterday that Juan Manuel Marquez, for one, was contracted to weigh 144. But although he came in under that, at a generally solid 142 -- even though it did look as if just a tiny bit of that weight was, shall we say, spare -- Mayweather weighed in at a ripped and lean 146. We'll have to do some digging, but they must have had two separate weight agreements.
Like I say, Mayweather has got it everywhich way. Not only is he fighting a smaller guy, but it looks like he's had it mandated in the contract that he has to be smaller. Pur-thetic. Muthafukker needs to man up.
Question: why would Marquez look worse tomorrow once he's got water in him? I mean, if you're two pounds inside, surely that didn't involve an ounce of drying out or restricting food intake?
Marquez is just too small.
This might just be the catchweight that sickens people, you know. Guy who's one of the best in the world, pushing up in weight too far and taking a whuppin.

I think he'll hardly make anything from this fight. Once the trainer's fee for uncle and papa, and the manager's fee for that fat leech who hangs around him trying to be intelligent, are taken off, plus the IRS taking USD 5 mn off the top, he'll come out with much less than a mil.
Nxt fight, if it's against manny, will, of course, be a different story.

Well said, Carbo. I was one of the few picking JMM, but the scales have now tipped (literally and metaphorically) in Mayweather's favour to such an extent that the challenge may have become insurmountable.

What I love about this, is that Mayweather has to fight on whether he wants to or not, because of his financial troubles.
