War of the Roses .....

Image

On the 23rd October 2009 at the Bolton Arena boxers Jamie Moore and Ryan Rhodes will put their friendship to one side as they fight each other for the European light-middleweight title. To add more spice to the contest is has been sanctioned by the WBC as a Light-Middleweight eliminator and therefore the winner can look forward to a potential world title fight for the famous green belt in the new year.

This fight alone should be enough to drag the punters out but Frank Maloney/VIP Promotions have added 4 more title fights to the show with a quality undercard to make it the best boxing event for a very long time in the UK .

Tickets are available from the boxers , the venue and http://www.vipbe.co.uk

Make sure VIP and Frank Maloney employ plenty of competent security guards.

The last 'War of the Roses' (Hare v Barnes) I attended was puntuated by an extended, bloody crowd fight.

Security issues aside, this should be a cracking fight! :TU:

It will be a tough fight 1 way or another I see Moore being to strong for him and cutting of the ring so Rhodes can't get his movement going I'm saying a late TKO

I have a feeling Rhodes will take this- no disrespect to Moore, of course, but I just think this will be Rhodes night- a comfortable points win.

This is what puts me off going to live boxing shows. I'm sure the TV will show most of the good stuff.

Is this a Friday Fight Night? If so, lets hope they aim for more fights of this quality on that TV show.

For those who like a flutter, Ryan is at about 5/2, (30% chance of winning) Moore is at about 3/10 (70% chance of winning).

it surprises me when ppl use the word comfortable in connection with a jamie moore fight. i would think comfort is the last thing that ryan rhodes is going to feel in there.

jamie moore is stronger and better and more controlled than ryan rhodes. moore even switches more effectively than rhodes.

good that there is some knd of reward - WBC "elim" - making it more than just a domestic/EBU fight.

I understand your point totally, and it's a good point- but I use comfortable to mean a points win that isn't in dispute.

I can only see a Moore win. If it was a British title fight I could see him getting listless and scoring a KO when behind on points.

But for EBU title and WBC elim, I think Mooresy is going to be at his best and eat him. Unless there is something we all don't know, some injury, or something.

Doesn't Jamie post on here anymore, has he closed his account?

Hope Moore wins and gets a bloody world title shot finally. With fights like the ones v Michael Jones 3 and Macklin, you'd think that, perhaps like Katsidis, he would have had a bit of a boost, that he would have been recognised a bit sooner. I think Moore has come a long way since then, has put in some very accomplished performances, and can do well.

Would be great to see him in vs Dzinziruk, probably the best of the champs right now. Dzinziruk doesn't have a promoter at the moment does he? If he's a free agent (IF), would it be realistic making him an offer, getting him to come over here (or perhaps getting on an HBO undercard in America)?

Wouldn't it be amazing if Moore won a world title and got a name like Margarito or Cotto ot even Berto, moving up to light middle?

I think Moore will win a close one but i also think is is some what over-rtaed and would be very lucky to win a world title.

Rhodes won't box Moore's head off, it'll be a close fight, I just think Moore has greater power and ability to walk people down. I don't think Rhodes has the power to KO or TKO Moore, nor do I think he can outbox him over 12 rounds to get the points win. That said I'm really looking forward to this one.

Moore has looked so strong in his last couple, I really think he'll walk through Ryan. Stoppage between 3 and six for me.
