Wasn't he training with Nicky Cook's dad before he went to train in the states? Why did he leave him?

Burns is a good fight for Mitchell.
Pretty durable, good all round skills, next to no power.
I think Mitchell takes a UD in a closer than expected scrap.

Considering we have been promised great things from Mitchell for so long now, a fight with Burns is disappointing. It will likely be a tepid affair where Burns is let down by hs lack of power and Mitchell beats him over the distance. Doesn't really interest me at all

But if he's simply waiting on a fight with that fella who flattened Nicky Cook, it's a decent (and not to dangerous) 'keep busy fight' to keep him ticking over.
I'm not convinced Mitchells world class just yet. Ill give him the benefit of the doubt though, as long as he makes the step up to championship level by the middle of next year.

Any more info on this?
Seems strange to have a Scot and a Londoner headlining in Newcastle, and i don't think Warren has any North east fighters in his stable. Wonder if he'll be teaming up with McCrory and showcasing the Cubans?

Amir Khan looks poised to defend his WBA light-welterweight title against New York-based Ukrainian Dmitri Salita before the end of the year.
Salita, who has an undefeated 30-0-1 record, is the mandatory challenger and has been in talks with Khan's promoter allegedly over a potential December match-up.
While the Englishman is already looking forward to bigger fights in the future, Salita looks like the perfect option at this stage of his career.
"We've been in talks with them and nothing has been confirmed but I'd like to fight him," Khan said.
"He's a mandatory for the title, but I don't see what the big hoo-ha is about, because at the end of the day, if they really want the fight and I'm giving Salita a chance to fight for my title, I think he should grab that with both hands.
"He might never get that chance again and I think it will be a big fight. He's a number one contender and I think he's the ideal fight for me at this moment in time.
"He's an American and I want to build my name up in America, so this is a fight to target."
New venue
But while the 22-year-old is itching to make a name for himself in the States, the first defence of his title will take place in the UK.
"I'm looking towards December time, although I don't know when in December, and I'd like to pick a venue where I haven't boxed before, in the UK," he added.
"We've fought in Manchester a few times, in London a few times, Birmingham a few times, but we'd like to go somewhere we haven't fought before. ITS GONNA BE IN NEWCASTLE ON THE 5TH OF DECEMBER.MITCHELL WILL BE FIGHTING THAT NIGHT TOO............

ye there was big talk Mitchell was going to fight Roman Martinez but he's made one defence since then and the talk has really died down.
Burns v Mitchell would be a cracking fight because I really rate Mitchell as a fighter and that fight could be massive for him, but Burns is also a really good fighter and has looked in really good form.

No, his ex isn't expecting. Kevin and his partner are looking forward to their new arrival soon. And he has switched trainers because who he was with didn't have his best interests at heart but has decided to still be based here.

Burns is a bit boring though, isn't he. Looks like an awkward one, rather than a belter (like Mitchell-Johanesson was).
Would love to see Murray-Mitchell one day, when/if the fight will be really worth something, and when/if Mitchell ever moves up to lightweight. That would be a sustained, savage war.

Does Mitchell still hold the british title, even though he hasn't defended it for, what 19 months now?

No, Roach was very interested to the point of arranging for him somewhere to stay. It was Mitchell who decided it was not the right time to go yet. As previously said, one of the reasons is the soon arrival of his baby
