Who will he actually end up fighting ?

I would be happy with Mosley or Pacquaio next, but then there could be Williams, Cotto or even Margarito and i would'nt even rule out a fight with Winky Wright being on the cards..........

Who do you think he will end up fighting ??

I would'nt be suprised if it's Williams or Margarito............Just a hunch :D

Can't be Margarito (unless Floyd wants to buy illegal fireworks).

I'd put money on it being Mosley in May next year.

I would have to guess Mosley too.

Dont be surprised if Mayweather announces his next oponent before Pacquio and Cotto happens. If he does not do this, then the winner of Pacquio/Cotto SHOULD be a given, but i feel that if the winner does not show serious vulnarabilities in victory, Mayweather will not step up to the mark.

Mosely is set to fight Clottey in December so that puts a big question mark by his name. However, he will be 39 next summer, thats surely going to put a tick in his box, double that up with a lackluster victory against Clottey and that would surely see him flashing all over Mayweathers radar.

Other than those three, i have no interest in seeing him fight any other fighter at 147lbs or below.

It wont be Margarito or Williams, nor will it be Mosley, I think it will be another non-welterweight.

I just can't see the Clottey Mosley fight going ahead. At least on that date.

Berto might be a good punt. Small (tick). Belt (tick). Unbeaten (tick).

I don't think Mayweather has come back just to rack up some pretty meaningless wins, not at his age. He wants more big money fights and they are against the Cotto/Pacquaio winner, Mosley or Williams.

I'll go with Mosley as the hype has already started.

I agree with your 3 ticks, but the big cross would have to be the money factor, what would a fight against Berto generate?

is berto-moseley comes off then maybe the winner, i can see mayweather fighting bradley but making him move to welter, i dont think bradley will trouble mayweather unless he uses his head again

Cotto was the big name attached to Mayweather just before he 'retired', if he beats Pacquiao, that'll be Floyd's next fight.

If Manny wins, which is how it'll pan out imo, that's the fight to be made, although given how watertight Mayweather looked on Saturday, I wouldn't be surprised to see both take an in-betweener as the negotiations take a turn for the fierce on the back of egos. Roach wont want the fight unless the money's so ridiculous as to make it impossible to turn down and Mayweather will undoubtedly feel he deserves the bigger split as he's obviously the draw, in his mind. In fact, I could see this one taking a good while to happen.

Mayweather will never face Williams, he might take on Mosley though, another right name, right time fight, look good on the resume affair.

Margarito wont figure in any of this, doubt he'll ever get another shot at the bigtime, deservedly so.

If none of the above work out, Mayweather will look for an easy mark at light middle.

Noone udersized please

Marquez just about passed as acceptable because he still got skills and it was a comeback fight

But he now needs to be fighting Mosley or the winner of Cotto v Pacman. Don't think anyone else deserves the fight or brings enough to the table to make it worthwhile. If he fights Berto I would be might dissapointed although he is a full welter and does have a belt. Berto would get desryed though

Paul Wiliams should go and find a celebrity wife or something and make fighting him finnacially worthwhile. Personally i wouldnt touch him with abargepole given his current profile

I know who he should fight, and that's Shane Mosley. After that he should fight the winner of Pacquiao-Cotto.

But everyone on here has said this, and I have my doubts as to whether it'll happen.

First, before this fight, Mayweather basically ruled out both of those potential fights, Mosley because of some slight Mayweather feels he suffered ten years ago, and the second because he said he won't work with Bob Arum.

But I fail to see where else he has to go.

I'm not sure HBO will pay for anything other than one of those fights.

Hatton - The Rematch - in Manchester! Hatton's always blamed Cortez and wanted a rematch. Floyd likes big, easy paydays and has said he wants to fight in the UK. You heard it here first!
:D

I wouldnt mind him fighting either Mosely or the winner of Pacquiao vs Cotto there are a lot of good fights out there maybe Paul Williams or Andre Berto but I would most like to see him fight 1 of the 1st 2 I said

I'd most like him to fight Williams, if Williams can still make Welterweight. Second best would be the Pacquiao-Cotto winner and 3rd best would be Mosley.

Mayweather will never fight Williams.

and nor should he. Williams needs to fall out of some nightclubs, crab a mic off taylor swift, throw a shoe at the president.. anything to raise his marketability and then he can come into the equation.

If cotto beats Pacman, then I think he may fight Mosley, I don't see him fighting Cotto.

Cotto is an easier fight though@ james. Cotto ois just to slow for Mayweather. It would be even more boring then Saturays fight.Might go back to Castillo 2 dark days. Poke and run

I hope he doesnt take the bitch option of fighting Berto, although he does need to be removed from the secne. Let someone else do it

I don't agree that Cotto's too slow for Mayweather. He appears slow of foot, but is a master at cutting off the ring. He coped with the speed of Mosley and Judah (who is probably faster than Floyd). His punches are quick, accurate and heavy.

Before the Margarito fight, I was convinced Cotto would be too much for Floyd. After that and his other wars, I see him as slightly damaged goods, but still in with a very good chance. That's why Floyd never mentions him. He only takes fights he knows he will win. My Hatton rematch post (aboce) was written only half in jest.

This is what I mean compared to the fighters of the 80's. The proliferation of titles and now catchweight titles... means it is very hard to know who is the "man".

Is it Pacquiao vs Cotto winner, or Mosley? Lots of people have Mosley at #1 at Welter.

and what about the dangerman Berto, or Paul Williams at Light Middle.

In Leonard's day it was much simpler.

Leonard was the start of all this shit though@ stu

He won a super middlweight and light heavyweight title on the same night and forced huge LHW donny lalonde to weigh in at a maximum of 171

He would still beat all these guys though I think a prime mosley would have been his hardest fight

I aint disagreeing, although the example you give of Lanlonde is wrong in that it made it easier for him to gain acclaim.

Leonard is accused of belt hoping, but he is also be credited of "cleaning up" at least the Welter and Middleweight devisions - something going against Floyd... but look how easy it was for him, compared to Floyd. 1 fight at Middleweight he had... and he was 7-1 in Welterweight fights... and really Green, Bonds and Finch were not what I'd call "elite" defences.
