He is amongst those who'll be at tomorrow's press conferernce.

i agree with you, but i think it might be the case of just giving him a fight, considering he hasnt fought in a long time, wouldnt suprise me if he is on the war of the roses undercard too

I got the dates mixed up my bad. I cant see that happenin either now. But as long as he gets regular fights, im sure he will be happy

Good to see He has a fight scheduled, he wants to box regularly so I wouldn't be surprised if he is on in Bolton too.

Haven't seen a great deal of Price to be honest, but I hear good things. He needs to be busy. If he can get 3 more fights this year I think he'll be chuffed.

So is Price signed up with Maloney now? or is it a fight by fight deal?

I hope he gets more fights whoever he goes to he should of had at least 5 fights by now he's no spring chicken and will need to get a move on I think he is a very good boxer and I think he could be a Euro champ imo

He's boxing in Sunderland and Bolton.

due to the innactivity....could price still consider going back to amateur and trying for the 2012 olympics??....

He has too much to lose and has been inactive for too long to be put in with Sprot, Williams, Harrison et al. He's got an olympic medal that should be enough to make him marketable for now.

Sprott's no longer in it sadly, Harrison's been inactive longer than Price has, on the evidence of his last three outings Gammer has little desire these days and I don't consider Price would have any trouble with the likes of Hughes, Belshaw, Barrett or Baker the only person to be concerned about would be Williams, but would a defeat against the current British champion in a three rounder be so damaging ?

Won't happen but I would like to have seen Price instead of Baker or Swaby (who is rumoured to be replacing poor Sprott)

particularly in US teams defeat to someone who has lost in a world title fight even early in his carrer will damage his record.

Be a good signing if is true! Give him fights he a better bet than Fury imo!

DAVID PRICE JOINS MALONEY STABLE

OLYMPIC super-heavyweight bronze medallist David Price has signed a three-year promotional deal with Frank Maloney.

Price, 26, will have his first fight under the Maloney banner at Sunderland’s Seaburn Centre on October 16 and boxes again seven days later (Oct 23) at Bolton Arena.

Maloney who famously steered Lennox Lewis to the world heavyweight title tips the 6ft 8in Liverpool star to reach the very top.

He said: “With the right handling and the right fights David Price can become a superstar and a household name.

“Heavyweights are different to other boxers. They have to be handled and guided differently.

“If he knocks over a few people I certainly won’t be rushing David quickly. Look how badly Tyson Fury was exposed after eight fights against John McDermott.

“It was the help and backing of Sky Sports that paid a big part in making Lennox a hero all over the world, and their support will also benefit David.”

Maloney believes his record with heavyweights helped persuade Price to join his stable despite other offers.

He added: “Many people get heavyweights wrong, but I think my record with them is as good as anybody.

“The Lennox years are well documented, but I also spotted the potential of John Ruiz and Nikolai Valuev in their early years and helped develop nthem.

“Domestically I took James Oyebola and Julius Francis to titles and I have even taken an average fighter, Mike Holden to the British championship.”

Price turned professional after his Olympic success and in his only paid fight to date in March stopped Dave Ingleby in three rounds.

David has been one of Britain’s most successful amateurs in recent years and there is every belief he can take than form into the professional ranks

In 2006 he landed gold at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games defeating Welshman Kevin Evans in the final.

There was real hope that Price would repeat that success in last summer’s Beijing Olympics when he stopped competition favourite Islam Timurziev in his preliminary round match

A win over Jaroslavas Jaksto guaranteed a medal, but in the semi-final Price lost to Italian Roberto Cammarelle and had to be content with a bronze medal.

Price represented his country all over the world winning many competitions including the Commonwealth Confederations and EU gold.

At home Price has been dominant winning three ABA titles while wearing the famous vest of Liverpool’s Salisbury ABC during his amateur career of almost 100 bouts.

On his way to the 2006 ABA title among his victims was Fury who he easily outscored 22-8 in their clash.

Maloney stressed that he hasn’t signed Price as a replacement for another Olympics Darren Sutherland who tragically died last week.

He explained: “I know people might think this has suddenly happened, but I first spoke with David at the beginning of the month.

“We had agreed terms a few days before the dreadful events of last week, but it was not the time to make any announcements.”
MESSAGE TO MEDIA: David Price will be attending a press conference to promote his next fight in Sunderland tomorrow (Wednesday). An advisory on this will be sent out. There will be a London press conference in the next coup
