Hayes purse

I'm just concerned and curious about Hayes purse for this fight.
Basically - he was getting nothing from the Wlad fight - other than what Setanta were paying him - then they hit problems - and he pulled out with a bad back.
Then he was signing up to fight Vitali - then he backed out of that one - saying he was fighting for peanuts - and he was tied to various options, etc
Just wondering after all the politics problems of Hayes last couple of negatations - whats the deal here with Valuev
Who is paying Haye for this fight - and how much ?
Is there any clauses in the fight - for rematchs - or any other catches - should Haye win ?

I just hope Haye wont be finding a reason to pull out of this one
I think Valuev is a much more reasonable guy than the Kilitshckos though who if the rumours are true seem like murder to negoatiate with

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over Haye's purse, he'll be making more than most of us do in 20 years for 36 minutes boxing at the absolute maximum...

I seriously doubt he'll be anywhere near that.

So... what? If Sky sell 100,000 at 15 quid, that'll only be GBP1.5 million, and you think they're giving David two thirds of that??
I reckon he might clear a million
dollars, but, you know, David is the away fighter, he's not fighting in the US on HBO, he had a pretty weak negotiating position, so I think USD1 mn, or, say, EUR750,000 isn't a bad deal, if that is indeed the deal. But I have serious doubts whether he'll clear seven figures in sterling.

People way over estimate the money fighters are getting at the moment. Only a chosen few clear seven figures for one fight. And virtually the only way they can do that is with US financial backing... is Haye big enough in the US, probably not. Never fought there, hardly any of this fights shown there...

Exactumundo.
He might not even clear six figures after all the deductions.

The thing is...(and I know promoters/managers - especially Adam Booth would violently disagree with me here) but shouldn't Haye, if necessary, be prepared to take the short end financially this time?
If he wins (and let's really hope he does) he'll then be in a better position to coin it in.
This freak show will get a lot of non-boxing interest going.

Is Haye the World Champion - No
Is Haye the home fighter - No
Is Haye the draw - In reality no, its the "freak show" 7ft something valuev thats the draw, he's the one people wanna see. If ahye was fighitng Monte Barret or John Ruiz in Germany for the world title there would be far less interest from the dailys.
Haye is rightfully getting the short end. Win, and he demands the big end (so to speak)

Of course. If he wins, he has a world title, and a bargaining chip to bring to the table. Without it, he won't get diddly-shit if he takes on the Klitchskos.
Haye needs not only to win, but win big to make a compelling case for him being the biggest threat out there to their dominance.
Right now Wlad and Vitali are so far out ahead of everyone else it's not even an issue, a dominating performance by Haye, and especially a KO of the seemingly invulnerable Valuev, and Haye makes a case for being a draw against either of them.

This fight shoul dhave been after three pay days at Heavyweight versus Barrett, Holyfield, Hoffman and then Valuev.

Didn't Haye struggle to fill the York Hall relatively recently? Pulling out of his last two fights (after signing?), no title and no real pedigree at the weight plus being the away fighter.
I fail to see where Haye has any real bargaining power.
He needs Valuev far more than Valuev needs him.

How right is
that?
I really don't know what Haye's doing. He seems to have put himself in a position where if he loses to Valuev -- which is a possibility, even if Haye is favourite -- that's devastating for his career.
Why hasn't he kept busy?
It seemed as though he had one plan: "I know I'm vulnerable, and I know Vlad is vulnerable, so the earlier we can fight, and with the fewer banana skins, the better."
And once that plan had its foundations destroyed by the collapse of Setanta, he was left with no other real options.

Totally agree - he tried to fast track his way to the title shot, without really earning it. It almost worked, but the Klitchskos knew they didn't need him, and basically made that quite clear.

Well, it was very nearly successful. Vlad was lined up and then Setanta went down... er, I mean... he got a terrible, non-specific, unverifiable injury. But for that and we would probably be chewing the fat on a knockout for one man or the other.
But that when this happened he was left with no real back up really exposes how much they were rolling the dice, doesn't it?
I really think that he thought that if he didn't get Vlad in the ring quick that either Vlad or himself would lose, and that would be his best chance for superstardom out of the window. And that was the plan.
Of course, their defence would be that now Haye has a marquee fight against Valuev, a win in which would put him right back in the market for a fight against one of the Klitschkos. However, for Haye, it's an eminently losable fight, and I can't think how he can pick up his career if he does lose.
Certainly it'll be a long way back.

Not sure if any are but would Haye's position have been any better if he'd put on his promoting cap and offered to provide x amount of fighters for the undercard?
Not sure if I'm right but that would have meant dealing with fewer parties so potentially fewer overheads perhaps?

oh, indeed. someone should remind Team Haye, if they don't know already, the purse Nigel Benn took to go over and bash up Doug Dewitt.
