I take my hat off to the father for having the balls/bottle to go on TV so soon after this traggic event to discuss his family's feelings and emotions.

Thoughts and Prayers of eastside ABC and Team Alio Professional boxing are with the family and friends again.

Team Alio Professional Boxing would like to say this -

Darren Sutherland,
Irish squad hero/comedian,
Irish Olympic Champion 2008,

FOREVER OUR WORLD CHAMPION !!

WE LOVE YOU MAN !

Ohh Daza its not any easy ride as a Pro boxer, just a phone call mate and we could have tried to help.

We could have had people call to ease the boredom, pass the time and help you out. fornicate, I'm sitting here at 30 years old crying like a baby. My heart is broke as is Alan wilton and the other coaches in the gym, 4 grown men crying is not a pretty sight.

I hope you are at peace now Big Man.

God Bless xo

If any other boxer ever ever feels this way please please please take 5 minutes to post on this forum, wait 4 hours, I know for sure that someone here will be more than willing to call round/help out/ talk to you/ listen to you, take you out/ spend time what ever you need to help you through these tough times.

Please let this life not be a waste, let Daza be a beacon to others that this is not the answer, there are many other ways to work through these issues. Please seek help, please please please.

Brilliant interview Tony Sutherland, you have a bigger set of balls than me or any of the team at Eastside ABC / Team Alio.

That took serious guts and gaul to go though that in front of a camera.

God bless all the Sutherland Family and friends.

Ps/ You can always count on Eastside ABC / Team Alio for support and asistance Tony, just call if there is ANYTHING you need.

Basically said Darren wasn't depressed and had bought his food for the week and had a daily plan written out for the whole day that he was found dead. Had some bad words for maloney because Darren was found at 3pm and he didn't hear about it until 8pm that night. Sad stuff.

Hmmm, I'm thinking that the suicide was a clue that he actually was depressed...

Depression is a demon, and until experienced first hand is probably something we all don't want to delve into too deeply.

Darrens father Tony has/had to be careful in his wording due to many Irish newspaper articles recently. Just the average rag boxing journo thinking they have a story, but dont know anyone in the trade other than their magic source !!

Full respect to Darrens family for going through with the Late Late show.

Ps/ Nelson your a heartless twat, I hope you never have need to use these boards for the same means. This death is less than a week ago ffs no need for jokes and banter, its a raw topic.

I didn't get to see the interview just got home , but i didn't like the stuff his father has said about frank recently in the irish papers , frank did a lot for darren he cancelled his up coming fight , and had arranged for a physiologist to speak to Darren and to go to portungal for some rest and a bit of training . that is how frank found darren he was with the physiologist expecting to go to Portugal .

franks a good man , one of the best in boxing maybe his father is just looking for someone to blame , but frank should never of been the target .

Also the stuff about darren never being depressed is wrong , i don;t really want to say he was lying but Darren went over to Brendan Ingle when he was younger and quit boxing for 3 years they seems to indicate that it was due to depression . Also the trainer who darren broke down to a few days before he died said that darren told him that he never felt apart of anything and had been depressed for years .

I loved Darren It;s one of greatest loses to irish sports , he always looked happy and was always smiling , but sometimes people smile on the inside and scream on the inside .

The fact that darren was found at 3pm and the family werent told until 8pm is bang out of order. This is what Tony had a HUGE problem with. He was going about his day, doing his job, when he should have been given the news. How must that feel?

Said before and will say again - this whole experience mearly as a boxing fan has been deeply humbling.

The way the Sutherland family have conducted themselves in such tragic circumstances has been deeply moving.

In addition the way "Little Frank" frank maloney has conducted himself shows what a nice and brilliant man he is too.

Horrible time which makes everyone think how lucky they really are.

Thats very usual- usually the next of kin are informed, presumably through the police, as soon as possible.

Frank cannot be blamed for this, he collapsed outside Darrens flat and woke up in hospital a few hours later...........
Yes it should be the Police that informs the family

There have been a few Boxers that have hung themselves through depression,
Rudi Pika, Dudley McKenzie, being the bigger names,
You just dont know why or how...

I wasnt going to join in the tit for tat of what was right or wrong in this case - however I am going to - the circumstances of "Frank" finding Darren was and always will be truly devastating for him - the sheer shock etc etc meant he was was never going to be able to sit or stand and think rationally about the right things to do in this sort of situation. In addition by the virtue of him going to hospital and the condition he was in also meant that the police would not have been able to talk to him concerning the details concerning informing the next of kin.

I find it utterly disgusting and intolerable that a case as truly devastating as this is being dis-sected and "the blame game" is now being discussed on this forum. The whole circumstances surrounding Darren Sutherland are truly tragic but the ins and outs of why he did what he did and the subsequent events immediately after his death should not be discussed on this forum and we should certainly not be playing the "blame game" on here.

Darren's father said last night on the late late show that there were even RIP messages on Bebo before he knew that his son had passed away. I shocked to hear that, I really couldnt believe it!

I don't blame Frank, he had his own heart problems, but someone else could have called the family and let them know straight away, it is their own flesh and blood and I understand why the family are angry about that. I hope the family can find some peace and reconciliation.

It's just not right that the family weren't told. As Tony Sutherland said, why did Maloney have to be the person to tell them, why couldn't someone from his office have told them. I understand there was another person there too. It seems to me that there was no initiative taken in that regard. There was no thought for the family, just for Maloney and getting him to hospital with his shock etc. People in the promotional set up were told. Sure, it was on this forum and ESB before the family was told. That is not right.

Anyone blaming 'Team Maloney' should really think about the reality of that day. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and while everyone can see that Darren's father should have been anong the first to know, this is based on humans acting on a rational, efficient level.
Now anyone who's ever been in any type of crisis knows that's exactly what doesn't happen - people panic, people make incorrect assumptions, people freeze etc, etc, etc. Given the horrific double-whammy of what happened to Darren coupled with Frank's collapse will have left the people around that situation absolutely shell-shocked and in no fit state to really think and act rationally and efficiently. If you're going to judge them, then you have to judge them in that context.
As others have already stated on here, if it was anyone's responsibility it was that of the police as they would be the only individuals trained and used to coping with this type of tragedy.
What happened was awful. His father finding out in the way he did was wrong. But let's stop the blame game as it won't bring him back and nothing positive can come out of it.
