My last thread topic today and one that I am sure has been discussed.

What would have happen if Tyson at his peak met up with Big George?

It's a shoot out! I'm 55-45 in Foreman's corner...

It could go either way, I'd favor George. Old george in 91 would have mugged Tyson then.

Tyson was very competent at not getting hit back in the day & that would prove the difference imo. I could be wrong, but its not as if Tyson was not a durable guy. His chin was always good. If George doesn't get him out of there in the first three rounds, then he has big problems!

No doubt Foreman would take it to Tyson because that would be his only way to win - he would not be able to out-box Tyson. However, in doing so, Foreman stands a good chance of being TKO/KO'd himself!

Speed kills & Tyson was like lightening compared to Foreman!

One of Tyson's biggest weapons was intimidation, but no way would Foreman be intimidated. Foreman by KO

Mike couldn't fight backing up and George was much stronger physically. He definitely would have to catch him coming in and he was capable of doing that. Just not the most likely scenario.

I'd favor '73 Foreman, old Foreman gets his ass kicked in a big way.

Your gonna get alot of younger guys that are for Tyson and alot of older guys for Foreman.

I suppose it could go either way.


Both can dish it out as well as take it.

Foreman's stamina may fail him, while Tyson's mentality may fail him.

Tyson is faster with better defense while Foreman is stronger and taller with a longer reach.

Id favour Tyson by stoppage.

I am not one that goes into this intimidation, pre fight psych BS.
Sure a few guys get it before a fight, but most professional fighters
seldom do.

I think if these two met, both would be pretty self assured and
confident of their own supremacy.

Foreman of '73 had underrated speed and a very good jab. He was also not hard to hit, and this is possibly a matchup of the two hardest hitting HW champs of all time (of ALL time!).

I think Foreman wins the first couple of rounds fighting from the outside, while Tyson tries to measure him up. Tyson puts Foreman down in the 3rd with a left hook and from that point the fight turns into a slugfest. Foreman goes down again in the 4th, this time from a left hook-right combo but then puts Tyson down with an uppercut at the end of the round. By the 5th round the tide is swinging Foreman's way but he is also starting to tire. Both fighters are hurt in a flurry at the end of the round, but it is Tyson who goes down from a series of blows, and fails to beat the count. Foreman wins KO5.

Foreman would be too much. I guess Mega Tyson refers to prime 85-87 Tyson because that's the only one IMO that stands a chance.

Sounds about right. Old George was as slow as a glacier and had trouble avoiding punches.

Foreman wins this no probs for me. I think we can look at the frazier 1 fight as a good comparison as tyson was similar to joe. good head movement and very aggressive. george's uppercuts were fantastic and had great accuracy against head hunters like tyson.

It's gotta be a KO win for Foreman. Inside 5 rounds. Tyson has not beat any fighter anywhere near the caliber of Foremen. But look wat GF did 2 Frazier who was like Tyson. It woulda been a gr8 fight 2 watch tho. And sure Tyson would have a chance.

Mega-Tyson is a name I saw on another forum.

To me it means Tyson at his absolute peak, when some guys were actually afraid to get in the ring with him. The period before he busted up with Rooney.

I have no idea if it is true, but I read somewhere that at least one of his opponents from that era was basically paralyzed with fright in the dressing room before going out to meet Tyson.

It should be, "Mega-Foreman," anyway, since he was the dramatically bigger man of the two. Perhaps, "Super-Tyson?"

He should probably be called Drooling- Tyson for this particular fight.

Nope, he has a punchers chance. But the more I think about it, George would back him up from the opening bell and then Mike is SOL.

Two great fighters, who look to do damage. Love them both, so no axe to grind, just trying to be objective.

Tyson had all the skills in the world and attributes however his fragile psyche would probably let him down.

George had the size, strength, jab and the uppercut to neutralise Mike. Although conversely Mike had the speed, the fast combinations and no shortage of power himself. Both had great chins, too.

Big George probably takes a bit of a shelling in the 1st and 2nd rounds, possibly dropped but wobbles Mike and gets his respect and gradually that ramrod jab and George physical strength slowly start to sap Mike's intensity.

I suppose, for me, it comes down to what runs out 1st - George's stamina or Mike's stomach for this fight?

Would lean to Big George, in about 6 Rounds, but by no means a certainty. Not in my opinion, anyway
