Khan v Salita confirmed

What does everyone think of this bout?
My opinion is that it could be better but it could be worse. Salita fits the bill perfectly of a "allegedly" title challenger, padded record, undefeated without taking any risks and espescially for Khan the opponent has average punching power. The fact that Salita is somehow mandatory challenger also avoids any questions of ducking better opponents.
However I think this fight will be interesting. Salita can only beat what is put in front of him and he has done so.
I would have liked to have seen Khan fight Kendal Holt or Ricardo Torres but I am interested to see this fight none the less.

Salita has only this mandatory position IMO because of his jewish roots he's shown favouritism by his powerful promoter. There is a reason Salita has fought only journeymen so far - he just isn't that good. He's pretty slow of hand and foot and carries no real power. I'd expect a Khan stoppage somewhere around the halfway mark. Its a nice little showcase for Khan and no more, but I'd love Salita to prove me wrong and put in a good performance.

I believe Torres is up at 147+ these days, doubt he will see 140 again. Holt would be a good fight to see how Khan handles him, but the risk/ reward isn't there for that fight to happen, so I doubt you'll get to see either of those unfortunatley. As for Salita Vs Khan, its a decent enough fight, don't fancy paying £15 for it though...

Agree with the posters here, could be better could be worst. Feel very sorry for Maidana... not that I give the crude Argie anymore of a chance than Salita, but didn't he win the interim belt or something.

It's a bit of a record padder - We know how it works when Warren has his fighters with titles, all a bit of a bore.
Certainly not worth £15 of my money.

Just.... not very interesting. Does anyone feel the same as me? I mean, it is a "world" title bout, but somehow Khan's career lacks the spark that others have had Benn, Eubank, Hamed and heck- even Bruno.

I saw Salita on the Calzaghe v RJJ undercard and he looked pretty dreadful to be honest, Kahn should win this easier than the Kotelnik fight.
But after that, Maidana will be a good test because he can wack and take a punch!

FW will be pleased, they've landed just about the easiest looking challenger for a major title possible.

Yeah- I thought that might have been the guy. I remember a New York / European fighter on an undercard, couldn't remember which bill it was though.

Ye he should fight Katsidis but Warren wont let that happen I think Katsidis would KO him in the mid rounds but it would be an intresting one

it's a shit fight, whichever way you want to look at it. it's a calzaghe-type fight. switch off and don't buy a ticket....that's the only way these fights will stop happening.

We have to remember that if Khan did not take this fight, the WBA would have stripped his belt as Salita is the mandatory. I guess that tells us that Khan will remain at light welter now which i think is a good thing as he seem's stronger with the added lbs plus there are some great domestic and international fights to be made at this weight.
He should get Salita out of the way and than face Prescott in a rematch in march april to put that right and than maybe a summer showdown with Hatton?

yea would be very interesting and would do wonders for khans rep if he managed to beat a proven puncher, katsidis is beatable if khan fights the right way, but i would go for katsidis ko early on.
but is just aint gonna happen

For whatever reason Salita is the mandatory, Khan has no choice but to fight him. He's not hand picked he's the #1 contender. After him the WBA have put another one straight after!

Yes, yes he is.
There's about one round of him fighting Raul Munoz here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSK-WErvAd0
As you can see, he ain't Ted "Kid" Berg. In fact, he ain't even Dana fecking Rosenblatt.
The guy he beats in that video -- Munoz -- for your information, lasted exactly 61 seconds with Alfonso "The" Gomez, three whole rounds with JCC Jr & five with the mighty Austin Trout, yet took Salita the full ten.
One thing, though: Salita won't fight on the Jewish Sabbath. So will it be a Thursday night job, or will YAHWEH be giving Salita some kind of special dispensation?

Calzaghe/Jones undercard in November last was a Saturday?
