Now I was a massive Holyfield fan and at his peak one of the all-time greats but he's lost the plot completely.

He goes on about David Haye not deserving a title shot and how when he moved up from cruiser he fought six times before he became no1 contender to fight the Tyson v Douglas winner.

Fair point, but he then goes on about Haye giving him a title shot if he beats Valuev and how he wouldn't fight Haye if HE was champion...

But what has HE done to deserve a fight with Haye. In fact, what has he really done in the last few years to deserve any of the title shots he's had. He's lost all touch with reality (and probably isn't as sharp as he should be considering the punishment he's taken over the years anyhow).

Good grief why can't he just let go and get on with his life. Assume he needs the money... which is even more tragic after all of the hard work he's put in and fantastic fights he's given us over the years.

Holyfield has done nothing but bore me for many years now.

He was a terrific fighter in his prime and showed great heart and fighting spirit. However he has been in many a bore fest towards the end of his career and he should just jack it in (and take Ruiz with him)

He should be the WBA champion. He got robbed against Valuev. I think he would beat Haye even at this late stage of his career.

I don't consider it tragic, purely because he's an adult and chose to blow his money on ridiculous mansions and fathering god knows how many children. He wasn't a victim of circumstance, he has consciously opted for the path he now finds himself on.

That is exactly my view on anyone who had it all and now has eff all.

I think Holyfield knows the score in terms of meriting a title challenge... I watched an interview on Soccer AM a while back and he basically admitted he hopes his name is enough to get him another shot. Unfortunately it probably is....

Holyfield deserved a rematch with Valuev. He didn't deserve the fight, but he took the opportunity with both hands and should be WBA champion now IMO.

1) He's very very beatable, and as this stage "knock out able" although he hasnt been KO'd since Toney did it in... 2004 was it?

2) Holyfield is a massive household name both in the UK, and in the US

3) It can be justified by the fact Holyfield, in many peoples eyes, beat Valuev

4) He'd come to the UK to fight Haye.

Do you think that Hearn could sign him up for the next Prizefighter?

Well he flew over to Switzerland & beat Valuev with ease, so you might have to revive your opinion of the old boy if Valuev chins Haye, which is very possible with Hayes bombs away/exhausting style.

Its clear Holyfield is boxing on because of the financial gain. All one has to do is see the size of his house to know he's carrying on for the money! All that about how its to become champion again is a smoke screen! If Evander truly believes he's going to champ again then he needs sacing from himself!

He's now having something built on his land (at his house) to combat global warming! What the hell does he know about global warming?

I genuinely don't believe it's remotely comparing like with like, but I accept that in part it's because I'm in the minority who believe Haye will stop him.

Haye is still the ex-Cruiserweight champion with wins over Tomasz Bonin and Monte Barrett, those two bastions of greatness among the big-men?

And Holyfield, though 79 years old, is still the four time heavyweight champion who recently almost beat Valuev away from home despite his vintage years.

And that discounts the commercial advantages.

Holyfield is exactly the type of opponent Haye should have slotted in between the Maccarinelli farce and his mysteriously convenient bad back.

No, I'm not, I'm focusing on the part that would see the older man absorb an unnecessary beating having already failed in his last three world title attempts and whose last significant victory came seven years ago.

Well you might want to think about the fact that Holyfield SHOULD be the WBA heavyweight champion of the world right now, when you assess whether or not he "deserves" a fight with David Haye.

By the man knocked down by, deep breath, Carl Thompson, Lolengla Mock, Jean Marc mormeck, Monte Barrett ... is there anyone else?

You totally dont give Holyfield any credit for the Valuev performance, yet you give Haye credit for .... ??
