We could be looking at the following PPV's over the next 8-10 weeks...


£12.95 for Froch / Abraham in October
£15 for Haye in Nov
£15 for Cotto in Nov
£8 for Kessler in Nov
£15 for Khan in Dec

So, is the PPV culture finally in the UK. I understand its been in the US for quite sometime, but surely this will drive boxing further into the ground, with even boxing fans turning to internet streams for their hit.

Haye fight will probably do the best its getting great hype. I not sure how well the others will do! Is Cotto ppv?

It's rumoured but not confirmed afaik.

A lad in our office, doesnt like football or sport in general came over to my desk to tell me he'd seen haye and valuev on TV and has decided he's going to have the lads round to watch the fight. Told him it was PPV, he didnt flinch.

Cotto-Pacquaio isn't PPV.

It will be the same as Mayweather-Marquez. Live on Sky Sports.

With Setanta going BUMP, ITV pulling out of boxing, the BBC being retarded, and there being no room at the Sky Inn, it seems like PPV is the only way to get BIG fights aired.

I'd rather have PPV fights than not have the BIG fights on TV at all. If you can get a few mates round or watch it round theirs it's less than a fiver per person

Cotto-Pacquaio is only a week after Haye-Valuev and Sky Sports were wary of doing two consecutive weekend PPVs. That's why Cotto-Pac will be on Sky Sports.

My mate works for Barney Francis and they weren't sure at the time, because of that reason.

Haye will do better than Khan imo. What happens to rest of Hennessy fighters after Dec?

I dont really mind shelling out a tenner for it if its a good card. I think £15 is a bit steep but always seem to buy it in the end even though I said I wouldnt I would pay for all those above though

obviously with developments in satellite / cable TV, and given the amount of money that could be made from the really big fights (tyson, DLH), this has been going on for a long time. now, with no heavyweight star, and few stars at all in fact, it seems the few fighters whose face fits, and who can be given the right fights at the right time, have to become a PPV fighter.

I know its always been here. but once we were looking at, what, maximum three fights per year. As form the above post we could have 4 in 7 weeks in Oct/Nov (not inc cotto). Have companies finally realised "hang on theres a good few mugs that cant miss the big ones"

That is some expense!! - some will not pay for all and thus the delayed and free repeats a week later will be the choice many are going to have to make - especially with Novembers bill coming in just before Christmas.
