How will he be remebered to you ?
As a hero or a villian ?
A True World Class fighter and Champion - or a overratted one brutally exposed by Pac Man ?
And impressive world class legacy - or a overinflated one filled with daft WBU defences ?
A British great - or a average Champion ?
A true working class hero - or a greedy con man ?
How will you remeber Ricky Hatton ?

How will he be remebered to you ?
As a hero or a villian ? Neither.
A True World Class fighter and Champion - or a overratted one brutally exposed by Pac Man ? World class but not any big shakes, plenty of fighters like Hatton have been and gone.
And impressive world class legacy - or a overinflated one filled with daft WBU defences ? Bit of both.
A British great - or a average Champion ? A champion, neither great or average.
A true working class hero - or a greedy con man ? He's a pro sportsman no? Whole point is to make money isn't it?
How will you remeber Ricky Hatton ? A boxer who won numerous world title belts and got pissed up quite a bit.

Pretty difficult to castigate Ricky Hatton as a "villan"
I'ts not like he stole money from a children's hospital, or anything.

As long as it carried high reward - in the form of multi million pound pays days - then yes
Hardly unique there though is he ?
Every fighter who has ever fought a World top rated fighter has tested themsleves against the best - even if it meant losing
He didnt want to test himself against Junior Witter though -

Hatton was on a total different level from Witter
yes it would have been intresting to see when witter was on his Knockout run
but his Run involved some poor opposition
i was at one in Glasgow and he fough a guy called Lucky Samba who was well outy his depth
apaprently Samba got 300 quid for the fight, whats that all about
suppose you could compare it to Hatton vs that american guy Bailey think his name was
but to me Hatton fought guys that were better than Witter in Tszu and Castillo and he fought a lot of tough guys leading up to the Tszu fight.
Maybe if Witters Promoter got him some decent match ups then he would proved he deserved the fight for his ability
rather than just becasue he was challenging Hatton to a fight.
just my opionion.
i dont buy into this Hatton was scared of him talk

One of our very best, a multiple world champion at two different weights, a guy who put it all on the line, not once, but twice, against two #1 P4P fighters at the time and two of the sports best ever, and came up short.
Calzaghe, unfortunately, will likely be remembered in higher regard than Hatton, but he never came close to achieving, or attempting, what Hatton did. Had it not been for Hatton doing it on the world stage i doubt Calzaghe would have taken the initiative to fight Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins and Jones. Calzaghe never came close to fighting a P4P fighter (excluding the 43 year old B-Hop), never mind the #1, Hatton gave it a go twice. I hold him in much much higher regard than i do Calzaghe.
Hatton was a great fighter who attempted to become the greatest!
Calzaghe was a great fighter who never really attempted anything!

Test himself against Witter???? He fought and beat Tszyu ffs.
Its a bit like saying Klitchsko never tested himself against Harrison.

You know what? He's a true champion and he has guts. When you've said that about a boxer, you've said plenty.

Avoided Junior Witter shamelessly for years. Overrated and one dimensional. Would have been beaten by most slick fighters of his era, Corley, Witter, Zab, PBF, Pacman etc.

Let`s be honest, who would`nt have guts for the kind of coin he was earning. Man of the people? 50,000 people turn up to see a borefest against Lazcano?? Not really "paying the fans back"
Let`s not even get into the Dollar for pounds episode for the Vegas tickets (NO - 1 dollar does not equal 1 pound).
I don`t want to have a go at Hatton, cos most people would do the same in his shoes. However, let`s not get carried away here.
He beat an over the hill Tzyu, a well over the hill Castillo, got lucky against Collazo, was outclassed by Mayweather and destroyed by Pacman.
His best win was over Urango. Urango can fight a bit, but it`s not enough to claim greatness.
Anyway, forget all that, I want to know more about the gimp show in Flint Islands shed!

i agree with the mayweather and pacman bit and castillo and collazo but how do see tzyu as being over the hill at the time they fought he was the no1 at that weight so how was he over the hill??????????
ide like him to be remembered as a very nice fella a crowd pleaser and british boxing legend.
