Due to an injury sustained by Fury, according to the Board.

Let's hope it's not a sign of things to come...

when he was at the murray thaxton show his hand was twice the size of the other so I don't think he is avoiding mcdermott

It's quite a coincidence Fury is injured now.

On ITV ages ago, he stated in interview that he'd hurt his hand but hoped to be back sparring again within a week. At the time I thought, one of those statements isn't true.

This therefore, hasn't surprised me.

I'm sure John McDermott would love the chance to fight Audley, with Sexton v Rogan occurring soon it would clear the field somewhat.

Normal techniques for avoiding fights are to stay inactive for long enough for the other fella to lose. In this case McDermott is deserving of a biggish fight and is unlikely to sit at home waiting for a rematch when there are other options on the table.
Otherwise you would take another route, usually the WBU in the old days and then claim your opponent is not on your radar no more.
Worst comes to the worst you offer him inflated money at about 2 days notice and then risk taking the fight

This is a fair point. Although Tyson said he hoped to be on the Froch bill the ITV pundits said they'd be shocked if he was fighting so soon with the state his hand looked in.

Fury fractured his knuckle when he fought in Ireland, he fought one handed for the last few rounds. No need for conspiracy theories

Harrison Vs McDermott would do me, but isn't Audley 'having a rest'

It did look bad when Fury was doing his interview on ITV I would also like to see Harrison fight Chisora for the vacant British and then the winner of that fight the winner of McDermott-Fury

Hang on... an injury leading to the cancellation / postponement of an exciting sounding match that people were looking forward to... in boxing?

That must be a first!

we said this when he was fighting on the Dunne bill. I dont think he wants to fight Big John and probably this fight will go down the pan.

McDermott v Audley might be a good one because Big John will try and get Audley in to a scrap and John if he boxes like he did against Fury is more than capable of winning that fight.

Probably Chisora will be the winner from this and Frank will get him an eliminator or a crack at the British.

should have a mini tournamnt for the brittish belt a joint headliner

Rogan-sexton II and McDermott -harrison

with winners getting the vacant belt and then after fury has had a few more fights maybe he could be mandator challenger

Is there any official news on this yet?

Anyway why do people say that someone is avoiding someone when they pull out injured and it’s obvious that they are injured, ie tv footage? Ok some boxers do pull out and incite injuries that are not true but I don’t think this is the case for Tyson.

I will think that something’s not quite right if he then fights someone else in January or don’t fight McDermott at all in the first part of next year.

Give the guy a break though people, he’s been one of our most active boxers for years and he hasn’t walked away from a challenge yet and I don’t see him doing it with McDermott.

well said, Tyson clearly injured him hand in Ireland, he fought most of the fight one handed, showed his hand to the crowd after the final bell and said in the post fight interview live on RTE that he injured his hand.

I'm not slagging the lad off at all, by the way.

It's just several people on here said the fight would never happen for one reason or another...is this the first 'jinx'?

Hope not, would love to see a rematch. :TU:

Just having a quick look at Fury's boxrec. He put on a stone in 2 weeks after the McD fight. That surely can't be healthy.
