Martin Murray speaks of his career so far and how he feels he is good enough to beat Darren Barker

Do you feel Murray could beat Barker or is it too soon for Martin

I only saw Murray in Prizefighter, so I'm not sure if he's got what it takes, but his technique is brilliant. Full credit to Oliver Harrison for that. I think Harrison is a fantastic trainer.
I have a feeling it would be a really entertaining fight. It makes sense, too.

Murray need's to step up the competition since he won Prizefighter he hasnt fought a notable name I would like to see him in with Cello Renda over 12 rounds this time. As for Barker, Murray isnt ready for him if it were to happen I would see Barker KO'ing him in the middle rounds.

isn't murray looking for an elcock fight? that might get him ready, or at least show where he's at. i agree, he's a big strong middle with compact punching technique; and he's a tough guy for beating 3 guy on one night in one of the more exciting Prize Fighters.
the thing is, and it could be a vicious circle. just as macklin didn't need barker, barker may not need murray.

Doesnt Cello Renda now have a brit title eliminator? If so who is it against? Surely Hatton can get a Murray Renda eliminator?

I beleive Martin Murray to be one of the best prospects in the Country.
He would stop either Macklin or Barker in 8 rounds!

Martin Murray is a good fighter, top boxer but I dont think he is on the same level as Barker, but it could be a really cracking fight if it was made.

There's a world of difference between being a good prospect and being able to KO a guy who's just starched Amin Asikainen in one.
Murray may well develop into a fighter capable of taking Macklin on, but at this stage he'd get KO'ed, not the other way round.

i had martin murray tagged as a good prospect before the middleweight prize fighter. he is a strong, classy fighter and he can certainly deliver at british level. barker certainly has more experience and some very nice skills but seems a little fragile. murray looks extremely strong and throws murderous body shots.
i just don't think it happens. surely, given that barker missed out on good fight vs macklin, then barker must get moved up to a different level. domestic scene won't do him much good, and i reckon it would be bad luck if e had to fight an up and coming murray. little gain for barker. kind of would be like mooresey fighting an up and coming macklin. i think mooresy was wanting to move upward before that, whereas macklin had more to gain from the fight. but obviously, if barker and murray ever fight, and it has a fraction of the intensity of moore-macklin, then it'll be worth seeing.

could you point me in the direction where you got your ganja??

murray would get ko'd by macklin and gave a boxing lesson by barker..murray is like 16-0 and is fighting guys with really bad records..im guessing your not much of a boxing man?

martin murray seems to be a bloody strong fighter with excellent basics. don't write him off. he can obviously perform under pressure, as seen in the middleweight prize fighter.

One of the trainers in Olivers that incited (or announced before VIP knew) Murray leaving VIP I believe.

The first statement was a bit daft, but to be fair, Murray is rated very highly by Oliver Harrison and some of the top boys in that gym. Yes he's not really been in with anyone decent yet, but I think he showed a little bit of his talent in the Prizefighter tournament, and it's not a given that he would look out of place v Macklin or Barker. Everyone has to get stepped up sometime and just because he's fought no-one at that level before doesn't mean he's not going to be able to handle himself. Sparring Jamie Moore for the last few years certainly won't have done him any harm!!!

Gemmell ,
Bombhead is a boxing man with the inside track on certain fighters as he posted on here 6 months ago that Martin Murray would be leaving VIP and joining the Hattons alongside another VIP fighter Mark Thompson.

I was impressed with Murray in the PrizeFighter and I've read a few interviews from him where he seems a decent bloke. I hope BIG Ricky can land him some BIG fights and get him in a British title shot or eliminator asap
I need to some more of him before predicting on how he'd do against Macklin and Barker

fair enough but murray would no way stop either of macklin or barker..i like murray he is a good kid and a good talent but why was he in prizefighter in the first place? it is bum's that go in prizefighter..maybe he did it for the cash..can't blame him..but the fact that this guy say's murray would stop macklin or barker in 8 when murray could't stop thomas awinbono in 8 round's 3 month's back suggest's to me that is a big of a stupid comment..but hey it's his view

obviously murray must be developed by his team. and obviously when he gets to a british title, he'd be looking to give a championship calibre performance. that other manc murray, john murray, i recall, struggled over 8 rds v al hamidi. yet he stops meager, mcallister, lawton (who decisively beat hamidi) and thaxton, all inside the distance.
