So, when is this 'new' venue going to be used? Would have loved to have seen Prizefighter there! Would be great to see boxing at some new venues rather than the Exel every other fight... :box:

Johnny, he only had one ball,
The other,
Was in the albert hall,
His mother,
The dirty bugger,
Chopped it off when he was born.

Can someone explain why it is so good? View or heritage / atmosphere? Does it have a bar?

I remember the very first time that I refereed at the RAH. It was the European Police Championships when I was an amateur official in nineteen hundred and freezing cold! I was completely taken aback by the enormity of the place. It`s strange that every time that I wnt back after that, the place seemed to get smaller. I am very lucky to have refereed all around the world and I can honestly say that imo, the Royal Albert Hall is the finest venue anywhere in the world for boxing. There is not a bad seat in the house and you can hear a pin drop at ringside even if you are sitting in the Gods. The last time I worked there I believe, was when I refereed a British title on the same night that Spencer Oliver suffered such a dreadful injury in losing his European title. I don`t believe that boxing has been held there since. I maybe wrong. There are many bars there for you to have the odd aperatiff if you should so wish! I hope that boxing returns there very soon.

bit of everything really

its round like an ampitheatre so even if ur way up u have a great view...as far as boxing goes it was second only to bethnal green.

with a 5 k capacity its perfect

the bottom line however is that the shit heap excel is probably sold at rock bottom prices...and royal albert would be too pricey

They don't want Boxing anymore, the officials line is they are 'concentrating on the arts'

When a man was derided for having a small member he retorted with ' Sorry love, I didn't realise I was playing in the Albert Hall'. :DD
