Froch - I am Britains most talented sports star
Posted: 17 Oct 2009, 12:41
Such breath-taking arrogance seems to be a prerequisite for any self-respecting pugilist these days, so judging just what proportion of it, if any, is purely for publicity purposes is difficult, but Froch certainly seems sure of his own ability. "As I have said before, I am, without exception, Britain's most talented sportsperson, pound-for-pound, sport-for-sport", he insists, confidence almost visibly dripping from every pore. "There is not one person you can name with more natural ability than me. Anyone who has seen me fight can tell you that - and I have to do it in boxing, the hardest sport of them all," he continues. "In my game there is nowhere to hide. If you screw up, you end up picking yourself up off the floor." The Cobra also has some harsh words for Britain's other top sports stars. "David Beckham is under worked, overpaid and over-praised; he is not fit to carry my sports bag. The same can be said for Tim Henman. He should give up, it's never going to happen; he's swallowed more times that Bernard Manning at a pie-eating contest. I have more all round attributes than any of the guys."

Fair enough. Whatever floats his boat. I'm still waiting for someone who's not a boxing fan to mention Froch. :xG0mez wrote:He'd don't care.
I remember when a particular guy from a particular paper called and he just made up the most outrageous stuff he could think of, then hung up and laughed.
Then carried out grouting his kitchen.
I think the only things he means, are his Nottingham evening post columns (when he pulls his finger out and does them).
and he hasn't grown up in the slightest has he.G0mez wrote:Great.

britain has a great world champion, someone who will take on allcomers..and beat them.

Beckham was a great footballer who worked his butt off, and he still does. Very humble guy, and he truly appreciates playing for England.FLINT ISLAND wrote:Yeah mate I agree with you
I do rate him higher with more respect than Beckham
Beckham was a good footabller who then traded all it in - got too big for his boots at Man Utd etc and got caught up in all the bollocks OK magazine celebrity culture
Froch is not the huge star he thinks he is..............................but he is a warrior who will fight anyone - so respect to that

You don't achieve all this without being great: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Beckham#HonoursFLINT ISLAND wrote:Nah Ryan Giiggs is what I would call great
Beckham was good - but it all went downhill after he left United.

Unfortunately 115 England caps don't come under honours.sg1985 wrote:Take a look at what kanu has won. He isn't great. I do agree though about beckham, he lost his way for a bit at madrid, but mclaren dropping him seemed to be one of the best things for him. he's been back to his best for a while now, still wasn't man of the match the other night.Asterix wrote:You don't achieve all this without being great: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Beckham#HonoursFLINT ISLAND wrote:Nah Ryan Giiggs is what I would call great
