Primetime - merged

Ive just sent this out to the froch fans on his forum. A few have been a bit frustrated how the purchasing works so have spoken to a helpful guy there who cleared up a few pointers that may trip up people wanting to buy it on the night:-
Currently there are two payment gateways that Sky utilise for purchasing 'on demand' events.
Due to limited time in getting the platform off the ground in time for the Froch fight, PrimeTime have utilised the 'IPPV' method of purchasing the fight.
What this means is, you will need to ring them and make the purchase of the fight over the phone. They will then take your £12.95 and then set up a PPV account with Sky (a further £2.50).
They will then ask if your box is connected to a telephone line. If your box IS NOT connected to a telephone line then you will NOT be able to purchase the broadcast.
The reason for this is, on the night, you will be presented an option to purchase the fight. When you press select to view, then select to confirm the purchase, the box will dial out to confirm that payment is in place and will then activate the broadcast.
On the night, it may say that the fight is £14.95 when you press select. If you have purchased the fight earlier for £12.95 then DO NOT FEAR your account will only be debited for that amount and not the higher amount.
For the next fight (Kessler vs Ward) the OPPV method of purchasing the fight will be in place.
You will simply select it from the screen and the fight will be confirmed via satellite with no requirement for any connection. Due to time constraints previously described, this method of payment has not been put in place in time for this event.
So your choices with primetime, are to purchase a telephone extension lead to get that box hooked up to the telephone line or you can view the fight online.

There's a £2.50 registration fee for ball sucking and you'll need a telephone line connecting to them.

I also have no telephone connection and second the call for both Sky and Primetime to suck my plums.
I am reduced to watching on a PC screen or highlights the next morning on channel WRD German nasty.
Although ball/plum sucking can be pleasurable, I expect nothing less than a proffessional toothless vaccuum cleaner of a whore, to make up for this dissapointment.

In fairness Adam, given that they're unlikely to transfer a picture as far as your house I wouldn't hold out much hope for your 'extras'

Having said that, I'm going for this (the PPV, not the ball sucking). No doubt I'll be back on here grumbling if it does go balls up. Thanks for the above info G0mez.

Diggler,
I am reading the terms and conditions now. It seems like you can order the event on a repeat for 9.95. It will be shown for a week. Thats how I read it.

Although, have to say the website is pretty shoddy so god knows if the T's and C's are accurate.
I cannot freaking order it!!!
Any ideas if you can order it on the Saturday???? Cause it says you must order before the 17th to Watch live.... but then says you can order on the 17th for an extra two pound.

Gomez can you send me an email address... I cannot find it on their website!.
What I want to do - is order it now (using extension leads)...... then take away the connection, THEN connect again all day on Saturday. Will this work????
Need to talk to someone about it.

I ordered it online (for viewing on TV) a couple of days ago, but have not had a confirmation by email or a "You have purchased this event" message on the TV screen. Should I have had some sort of confirmation or just assume the broadcast will appear on the night?

People who say they haven't got a telephone connection, is this directly to your Sky box, or in your house at all?
I've always had one of those extension cable/lead thingys that goes from my Sky in the living room, to my phone socket in the kitchen.

The telephone line connection between the back of your sky box and the telephone socket will likely need to be in place at the moment in time you press 'ORDER THIS EVENT' on the night.
When you've pressed your order button, the box will dial up primetime's database and then at this point the "this person has paid" or "this person has not paid" message will then be relayed back to the box,
Some people have Sky supplying their TV and their telephone lines. Thats irrelevant though. What you need to look for is the box being plugged up to the phone connection.
A 20m telephone extension lead is approximatly only around £4 or £5 maximum. Shorter ones are cheaper still and typically avaliable from PC world, Argus or B&Q.
If anyone has any more queires then here is the support email address.

For those without SKY you can always get the stream - and plug it up to a LCD or Plasma TV if you have HDMI sockets on your laptop.

What you do is
1) Turn on TV
2) Turn on laptop
3) Dress up like someone from the Village people then
4) Free Enzo from Flint Island's shed
5) Hey presto - its all ok!

4) Free Enzo from Flint Island's shed

5) Hey presto - its all ok!

much easier if someone on here who orders it, points their web cam at the screen and lets us all watch it via msn messenger.
surely this could be done?

I would purchase this but at that time I'll either be fast asleep in bed or lying in a puddle of my own puke on the highstreet.

You get that 'rolling screen' effect though i think otherwise that would be cool.

If you've got one of these on your swanky TV and one on your laptop then your in business mate.
You'd just need that HDMI lead from pc world or wherever.
You can also watch your downloaded fights/movies on the big screen like this too.

It looks like I will be able to watch on the TV and not 2 feet away from my pc screen
