How does this have anything to do with MMA ?
"Wrestler" Classy Freddie Blassie is not a Wrestler. Do you know the difference between
the worked, show 'sport' of "wrestling" and the actual amateur Olympic sport of wrestling ?
These "Wrestlers" have often made a transition into boxing, MMA, etc cashing in on
their popularity, size and athleticism, seldom do they do well. But rest assured Classy Freddie Blassie has nothing to do with MMA, or any actual combat sports....besides his one ill fated
match against galento.

Yes but the sarcasm was not apparent. Nor was MMA in any real reference.
So drum roll all you like, but I am certain apart from yourself no one else noticed
it was sarcastic.

I can see that.
One of the current MMA "champions" is currently direct from the WWF right? Sew that in to this. I find that fact so far through the looking glass that I just had a "moment" when I saw this thread. Remember that I will forever have Archie Moore's dismantling of Mike Dibiase going around n my old noggin until I settle into permanent dementia.
And As I so often have had to do in the past, and I know I will continue to do in the future, I ask for your continued patience and forgiveness when I stray into such alternative dimensions that few others would ever be the least bit interested in traveling to.

Translation: I'd like to apologise for being a daft old cockhead who knows as much about boxing as collins knows about baseball.

You mean Brock Lesnar who is a former NCAA Div 1 wrestler, olympic gold medalist and
collegiate national and north american champion ???
Who has gone on to become UFC HW champion through good match making and because
he is a talented, athletic big man with an extremely credible amateur background.
Oh...and he made alot of money doing the fake stuff/
You see us athletes look at the real factors and not the gloss and glamour side of
sports.
None of those "entertainers" had any credible wrestling background. And in any case....
Lets say Archie Moore boxed Dan Gable...so what ? It'd be like Gable wrestling Moore..
what'd it prove ?
Boxing is boxing....fighting is fighting....

Blassie was warned his his arms were too short for a heavyweight boxer but took on Tony Galento anyway. Galento thrashed him so he switched to wrestling.

Galento was only 5'9" himself so the argument of his arms being too short for a Heavyweight is absolute nonsense. He was simply outgunned and thrashed... PROVIDED that the contest was even legitimate in any way shape or form.
Galento ALSO did some rasslin' after his boxing career was essentially over. So one has to be greatly suspicious of the nature of the contest.
I generally think it had to be a fix. Just one fight before he knocked out tough journeyman Herbie Katz in 25 seconds... Yet we're to believe Fred Blassie lasted nearly two whole rounds with the dirtiest heavyweight in the game? Bullshit.

Tony "boxing" wrestler Cyde Steves... See why I argue that these are most likely fake bouts? Again, real boxers of real ability getting kayoed in 25 seconds by Galento, yet it's taking him 2-3 rounds to beat wrestlers in his own sport?
Oh btw, Galento vs Carnera in a rasslin' match. Carnera "won" the contest. Galento also worked with (believe it or not) KILLER SAM SHEPHERD the man who inspired the film and tv series The Fugitive.

Freddie The Vampire, as he was known in Japan. Absolutely.

Against the legendary Rikidozan, biting his head. It's a wonder all these old guys didn't have hepatitis and STDs out the wazoo.

Blassie also holds a win over former light heavy champ Joey Maxim in the 60s.
I'll assume it was a "work" unless someone has info to the contrary.

Blassie was born in 1918....... you do the figuring...... definitely a work.

That would put Blassie in his 40s, so even if it was strictly boxing it would have to be a work since A) Maxim could probably still fight to some degree B) Blassie never could fight.
Most likely it was a boxer vs wrestler gimmick match where Blassie used some underhanded tactics to secure the win.
