Reason i ask the Cruiser limit is 200 pounds, or around 90 kg, danny won the bout at around 81/ 82 kg.

The fight is for the IBO cruiser title mate. He is light for a cruiser, but there you go.

I just found it strange that they are fighting so far under the limit. I wonder if green will bump his weight up a little closer to the limit :OhYes:

Danny would be an awesome site at 200 lbs.

Cruiser is really anything from 176 to 200. I doubt Danny will go much higher than 190. Jones Jr is probably also going to be cautious about packing on too much extra muscle if he wants to get back down to 175 to whoop B-Hop again...

Roy had trouble last time he had to get down to light heavyweight.

His win over Hopkins was at middleweight and 16 years ago. It does not have much to do with the current situation.

Except that Roy Jones Jr is ROY JONES JR and Bernard Hopkins is bernard hopkins.

It's a strange situation. Will both come in at around 185 lbs?

More than likely I reckon. It is stil a cruiser weight fight. There is nothing that says you must weight 200lbs.

It's something I've been thinking about too - I was a little surprised when Green weighed in at 179.5 (81.6kg) for the Dominguez fight, considering it was for the IBO Cruiserweight title, so he could have weighed 20.5lb (9.3kg) more if he had wanted to.

I agree with the earlier statement about Jones and BHop, I don't think we'll see Jones over 185lb. Green has previously written that he loses 6kg to get down to light heavy, so if he doesn't drain he could conceivably be around 190lb. I don't think the extra weight will be much of an advantage to Green, we all know that he can knock Jones out, the question is whether he can land the punches in the first place.

It's obvious we need a Junior Cruiserweight division (185 - 200). And a Junior HW (201 - 220) division, but not to be confused with the previously named Jnr HW division which was infact the old cruiserweight division according to the WBA. And we also require a super dooper pooper HW division for fatties too lazy to lose weight (250+). Wouldn't that be great

There was talk of a 'Dreadnought" Division when Carnera was fighting because of his great size. In spite of this there have been many fighters under 220 pounds who beat fighters over 250 pounds.

When Jones fought Ruiz the commentators said Jones was over 200 lbs when he entered the ring.

That would have been pointless. There were virtually no deserving contenders to challenge him that weighed 250+. It's debatable whether Primo was genuinely worthy of a title fight himself, due to the mafia connection issue

i believe the contract weight is 180 lbs. technically a cruiser fight.
