Wendell Sailor and Warwick Capper's boxing showdown

ONE is a trash-talking rugby league giant, the other a G-string-wearing playboy. Now they are set to go head-to-head, with Wendell Sailor revealing he will fight Warwick Capper in a boxing showdown at Star City next week.

Big Dell has promised to knock out the former Swan when the pair slug it out next Thursday night.

"He bagged my arse once so it is on,'' Sailor said.

"Seriously, if I lose to a bloke that wears a G-string I will leave the country.

"I will find a nice little island and disappear forever.''

At first it sounds like a mismatch, a current NRL player up against a former AFL star best remembered for his tight shorts back in the 1980s.

"I have to take him seriously,'' Sailor said. "I have had the scouts out and he is 6ft6in and weighs 112kg. I am 6ft3in and weigh 112kg.

"He has a big reach and apparently he is pretty fit.''

Sailor has sounded out Anthony Mundine to help him prepare.

"I'll call 'Choc' and I will be going down to train with him next week,'' Sailor said.

The dual international had reservations about taking the fight until Star City agreed to donate money to charity.

"Half the purse will go to the Samoan tsunami appeal,'' Sailor said.

"I am going over there soon to lend a hand on a trip organised by Nigel Vagana. I would not have taken the fight otherwise.''

In good news for Dragons fans, Sailor has not ruled out playing on.

"The good thing about this fight is that it will make sure I stay fit,'' Sailor said. "I want to return to the off-season in good shape should I play.''

I would love it if capper knocks him on his butt but not sure if it will happen as capper is 10 years older than wendell and has he been training boxing over the years!!! we know rugby players do boxing training for fitness so wendell will have some ability.
Wendell is crying over one remark about him he made, capper bags everyone but he is a clown so you don't know if he is joking or not.

I heard that Capper aint a bad fighter.

It is classed as 4 round exhibition by Combat Sports Authority of NSW

Capper's what we at school in the 70's would call a classic "dag". No wonder we shipped him off to Sydney and Brisbane And if his co-ordination on the footy field is any indication (except for his aerial skills) then he can't fight for sheeet

p.s. Capper's about 6'3 and if he's 112 Kgs then he's fat. Sailor will slaughter him if it's a half serious fight

Earlier this year my boss has the misfortune of sitting next to Capper on a 2 hour flight. Capper wouldn't shut up, making loud and embarassing remarks about the hostesses and any other woman that walked past. And he apparently kept farting. Loudly

If they can get their heads through the ropes they will probably both lose.

Seriously, Big Del is a lot younger than Crapper and still playing football. He should win if it is fair dinkum.

i know most people including me would axpect big del to win but capper is a tall solid and very fit too by all accounts. he'ss not scrawny like when he played footy.

i would expect the verbal stoush pre fight would be as entertaining as the actual fight in the ring.

'battle of the ego's' should be the headline.

There is a video on youtube of sailor boxing someone, he is a good athlete but his punches don't look to have the same pop that hopoates and haumono's have, even when they 1st started they had some pop in their punch, he might have enough to ko the 46 year old capper but maybe not, i know nothing about him, he is always wanting to box someone so maybe he has some skills, he said he wanted to punch fenechs head in , he wanted to box mundine when he was on big brother and he wanted to box sony bill.
His got kicked off big brother for being a dickhead.

Little is known about capper but on paper it is a mismatch, capper is smaller and 10 years older and hasn't played pro sport for ages, oh well it could be worse, they could have put wendell in with garry gurr

Capper quit 50 seconds into the 3rd round, it was a bit of a mismatch i read, just like sonny bills charity match, capper went to the ropes a lot, wendell said he is donating half the money to the Samoan Tsunami appeal.
When is the next charity mismatch, who are the wankers who puts these fights together!!

Sonny bill said he wants to fight again for charity next year, i hope barry hall puts his hand up to be his opponent, we would see how sonny likes getting knocked out for charity instead of knocking someone out for charity.

maybe the fact that these things r usually for charity should be reason enough to prevent u from having a whinge.
