Munroe turns down 3 World Title Opportunities In 1 Year!!

Early in 2009 Cordoba's team offer Munroe a shot at the WBA ordinary title, Munroe/Maloney turn it down on the basis that he is not ready for the fight yet which is fair enough I suppose.
A few months later Munroe is offered an IBF title eliminator bout against Kiko Martinez - who he beat twice before - with the winner getting a crack at Caballero. Munroe/Maloney turn this down because? They were not willing to fight Martinez again? I don't know the exact reason but they turn it down anyway. This would have been an easy fight for Munroe which would have lead to a crack at the Super Champ Caballero at the end of it. Why turn it down?
Now it has just emerged that the WBC world title eliminator against Maludrottu may not result in a world title shot for Munroe -if he wins that is- for at least a year as Nishioka fought his mandatory challenger Gonzalez in May and does not have to face another mandatory for at least a year. Apparently this is down to Maloney failing to attend the WBC convention and so failing to make a case for Munroe to get the title shot sooner. This is the same as turning the chance down in my opinion.
So Munroe has basically turned down 3 chances at a world title shot in 1 year! What are team Munroe waiting for? Someone to just hand them a world title belt? Or have they given up on the idea of going for the title at all?

Badass - with all due respect, even in your own descriptions here Rendell has ACTUALLY turned down just ONE title fight.

ye exactly - everyone would be saying oh what a backwards step it is for him to fight Martinez again and so on, if Maloney didnt attend the WBC convention then it's his fault and nothing to do with Rendall, after a fight everytime when a fighter is asked "what's next?" they say "i'll let my promoter deal with it" that's what Rendall did and Maloney didnt get the world title opportunity you talk about.

DavidPayne with all due respect to you sir, he has turned down 3
chances to win a world title. He turned down a world title fight, then a world title eliminator against a guy he already beat and now has basically screwed his chances of a fight with Nishioka. I will make a prediction now that not only will Munroe never win a world title but he will never even fight for one.

No Gemmel I have a video of Cordoba's manager stating that he offered Munroe the fight 1st, then he offered Martinez the shot who also declined. I'lll post it up for you if you would like to see that!

The Martinez fight would have been hard to sell to TV or paying punters, Maloney would likely have been taking £30k bath just go through with it.
Attending the WBC convention is no assurance of a title shot. To suggest so is to paint Frank Maloney as some sort of puppet master for the slippery sanctioning body, which is ridiculous - influence, yes, definitive influence, no.
Munroe is being moved steadily in line with his ability to develop.
The Dunne fight is now a natural IMO. At least however people are now accepting Caballero is the WBA's proper champion, something largely ignored when Dunne held the regular belt the organisation offers.

What difference does it make if it's a backwards step? It is a world title eliminator! Was Nettey a step forward? I don't think so mate!
Maloney is Munroe's manager so why didn't Munroe insist that he go make a case for him at the convention?

Dunne will move up if he comes back, that is almost a certainty from what I've been hearing. The Dunne V Munroe fight would only have made sense before Dunne beat Cordoba in my opinion.
When were people not accepting Caballero as the real champ?

took 25 fights to step up in class and when he stepped up against one of the best in europe he got whooped.beat some more bums got a shot at cordoba(overrated) he was getting soundly beat until he ko'd cordoba.then got destroyed by poonsawat. why doesn't he rematch kiko? oh yeh he will get ko'd again.dont hate on munroe if he isn't fighting for world titles in his 20th fight. dunne was fighting plumbs at that stage of his career

I don't mind Munroe. I'll say nothing about Maloney! I can't understand why they are turning down chances left, right and centre though. There are only so much opportunities you can turn down, he could quite easily lose the EBU title while Maloney figures out what to do with him, then what?

Dunne's level of opposition far outweighs Munroe who is all aboard the bum train and got beat by Andy Morris- who by the way is the only good fighter he has ever faced. Anyway, this is not about Dunne, this is about Munroe.
I will post the video when I get it up on youtube so chill Gemmell

When were people not accepting Caballero as the real champ?
Every time they referred to Dunne as the champion. He wasn't even the champion of that governing body let alone the world. And despite the criticism I get for that view, it isn't abiut Dunne, a gutsy fella or the fact he's Irish.

Re: A third fight with Martinez - never would have happened for business reasons - who the hell would pay for a third fight when Munroe already beat the guy twice convincingly. The fight wouldn't be financially viable.

I am a bullshitter for pointing out facts?!! Munroe was offered the fight with Cordoba (the video is in the process of being uploaded to Dailymotion you weirdo!!).
It was reported in Boxing News that Munroe was offered an IBF eliminator against Martinez.
And I have just read on another forum about the situation with the WBC title shot, so how does this make me a bullshitter you clown!!
Don't get mad at me for bringing up the subect just because you don't happen to like it!

Munroe was offered the Cordoba fight, Maloney has publicly said so but didn't think he was ready. Fair enough in my opinion.
Dunne took the chance and it paid off, until he had to take his next fight that is...
But I wouldn't criticise Munroe for the Morris loss, it was a huge step up in class at the time against a very in form Morris and he pushed him all the way
Shame if Dunne does move up as the Munroe fight has unfinished business about it
