Fair play to him. There is a video in the link as well.

To be fair, the papers down this way are full of Tysons visit. Most people I guess welcomed him but there was the few dissenting voices, mainly polititians, who disagreed with the visit.

Aye like. I went down to see him. Got a hand shake from, he was very much the gentleman actually.

Mike has always been respectful & admired fighters, from all eras, so by him paying respect to guys like Johnny Owen & Howard Winstone comes as no surprise to me to be honest. I would not have expected any different from Mike because he has always spoke well of past greats!
It was particularly nice to see Mike with Johnny's brother & other members of Johnny's family. I thought that was a nice touch by Mike. Clearly, paying his respects to guys like Owen & Winstone is something Mike has wanted to do.
People need to give Mike a break, they really do! He is now trying to live his life & he comes across as a person who does not really care about the camera or the attention any more. He never did care that much anyway about all the razmatazz, cameras being shoved in his face, etc.
Mike is a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for, which is something Dermott Murnaghan found out on Tuesday when he interviewed Tyson.
Gestures such as paying homage to Owen & Winstone only makes me more of an avid fan of Mike!

Sorry mate get your tongue out of tysons arse. Give hima break how many fookin breaks does one man get in life?
Makes no odds, shame he wasnt more respectful to those clsoe to him rather than people he has never met. Complete PR exercise.
No sympathy for the rapist cannibal
What he did to holyfield should have meant he was banned for life from boxing.
I have no pity for a man who squandered his millions though ego massage and excess.
The only pity i have towards him is for the loss of his daughter.

Money has nothing to with it, regardless of whether he has squandered £5 or £500,000,000. You refer to the rape claim, which yes, Tyson was convicted of in a criminal court, but I'm not the only person who thinks he's innocent.
You see, no matter what he does, people will always refer to his past or the some of the bad stuff he did in the past. Guys like Dermot Murnaghan, who interviewed Tyson on Sky Sports News on Tuesday, showed how woefully inadequate he was to interview such a person. Keep refering to someone's past, things they said nearly a quarter of a century ago, is not very innovative. In fact, its palin old repetition, boring! We, the proper fans, could & would do a better job if given the opportunity!
You refering to what he did for Holyfield, yes, maybe he should have been banned for life, but I think the powers that be realised they would be short-changing themselves if such action was taken. Whether you like it or not, say Tyson was banned for life, Boxing would have suffered from that!
Its a bit like the MPs who have claimed expenses out of their arse's. People are asking if they should have been sacked & made to pay the money back? A more appropriate question would be, how long should they serve in prison?
All I was saying is that I'm a big fan of Tyson's. On the whole, Mike has always shown respect & admiration for fighters, so when he pays his respects to Owen & Winstone, he cannot be knocked for it!

you contradict yourself there....money has nothing to do with it, yet he was allowed back to boxing why ..............money...once tyson won the title his life has been one long soap opera mostly of his own making.
Innocent..really...hmm done suppose he has much previous does he...er hang on lets cross reference that with Teddy atlas......or perhaps the press who he wanted to shove his dick in and make squeel or was it their mothers that he wanted to do that too, i got too bored to listen properly....the best thing about him coming back was watching lewis inflict a protracted and lengthy beating on him.
couldnt really care what he does to be frank. The sooner he fvcks off into the shadows the better he is no advertisment for boxing imo.
his list of misdemeanours is a mile long from drugs to gbh, rape to bringing boxing into disrepute, so please dont make out he some nice guy who is misunderstood, most of it he has brought on himself.
And no visiting Johnny owens grave doesnt make him a nice bloke.

I know plenty of decent people with a list of misdemeanours a mile long, incl' drugs and violence who given the chance to change have turned into absolutely fantastic inedividuals. In certain circles it's totally acceptable, violence that is, and as for drugs... 2 of the absolute worst are the 2 legal ones.
Rape is never acceptable, but I for one don't believe he is guilty as convicted.

Tyson visiting Owen's grave did not suddenly make him become a nice person in my eyes. My opinion of the man was formed long ago. I admit Im a Tyson fan & sometimes, not always, I am a little biased. I'm sure I'm not the only person who is biased towards someone else.
Mike's previous criminal convictions should not have any bearing on a jury making up their minds about him being guilty or innocent of raping Desiree Washington. If it did, then in all trials all over the world, prosecutors would use the past of the people who were being prosecuted against them, which is not allowed!
Also, you say the sooner he fcuks off into the shadows. Whether he wants to or not, do you honlestly think MIKE TYSON would be left alone for the rest of his life? He has been put in front of a long lense for the last 25 years. That's not going to change any time soon. It may get less than it was at one time, but he will still be written about, spoken about, etc, for many yerars to come!

J,
Not saying your wrong with your view - just wondering do you think Derek Chisora should be banned for life also?

dont think the two are comparable one is far more extreme than the other but id have banned chisora for years not months.
Look my point is there a lot of over loving her for tyson just cos he visited two graves as part of PR stunt....
gushing praise for a man not worthy of it imo. About this shows the class of the man...fact is the man has not shown any class in his life so personally i feel the praise is ott.
thats all, still each to their own

you might want to look into his life before making a fool of yourself on the board mate.

For me, Chisora had the same intension. I don't think he should have suffered a lesser ban cause he doesn't have sharper nashers.

And you may wanna back up your comments with a little more substance than that but reading between the lines of your most articulate argument.... so im making a fool of myself cos i dont agree Mike tyson is a warm wonderful human being......... right whatever ....laters noob....
fair enough stu but if generally in life you get punished for what happens not the intent. Personally think actually chewing off half of hoyfield ear at the 2nd attempt and spitting it out on the canvass is somewhat more severe than chisora chomping down on a shoulder.
Just my take.

Each to their own I guess.
But Tyson is a legend. I don`t go into all this rubbish of having photos taken with a boxer just because he held a world title or was famous for a while. But Tyson is one of only a handfull of ex-boxers I`d go out of my to shake hands with .. and I was happy to wait the 3hrs also.

Fair enough J, Chisora's ban was rediclously short. It was the ear he went for.
