intresting fight.
do you think wrights defence and jad could nulify ray,
or do you think ray is just to fast and slick for wright.
wright is imo underated as an ATG fighter and i honestly have trouble thinking who would win this fight

Like Benitez before him, Wright appeals to me as a defensively-beautiful fighter, one step behind the best of his time in a dazzling era of superstars, & lacking their drawing power --- hence, significantly under-rated.

That said, it's difficult for me to envision anyone losing to Fernando Vargas (I had Wright winning, but it was debatable & fair) whilst beating Ray Leonard. I think he's outclassed, I honestly do.

He'd never get to grips with Leonard's speed.

thats a fair comment i guess, but think of this, he did cancel out mosleys speed most of the time.
was mosley as fast as ray? probably not but he definatley wasnt to far behind

True enough, & that's a strong point. People may've forgotten it for the time being, given his current status, but Mosley was considered to be on the downslide then, & he'd stopped throwing in combinations the way he was doing at 147. Wright took advantage of an out-of-sorts Mosley, & Leonard, at 154, was an out-of-sorts fighter.

Maybe this is closer (not that I thought it was any kind of shut-out, mind) than I first envisioned. Wright would spoil like there's no tomorrow, frustrate Leonard &...never win a decision, because of politics in part, & overall output.

Wright'd have to pitch a shut-out to steal this fight.

IMO, the big difference in a leonard-wright/ leonard-mosley comparison, is that Winky had a nice advantage in length and frame to help him beat Mosley.

he wouldn't have such an advantage vs Ray which would spell his doom in this matchup, IMO.

and winky's solid but predictable tactics of 'short-stepping' his opponent (a look which, in any case, Leonard shone against when he dismantled Kalule) wouldn't hold any fears

leonard UD 118-110, IMO

Winky wins this one. That was his best weight class. Winky is one of the great all-time jr middleweights.

Wright dealt with speed very well and cut the ring off effectively and has a very good right jab that would stop Leonard getting in and out but Leonard was a great fighter and often found a way to win. This is a very tough fight to call but I would lean towards a close "Winky" Decision

winky would be on him from the opening bell. wright a little too big and too good a defense. winky by decision.

Ray was a different class of fighter in my opinion. He easily overcame adversity. He was much better at handling southpaws than Shane. And yes I do believe he was fast of hand and equally important faster of foot. He would/could handle anything Wright and Sugar Shane could offer.
That is how I see it.
