What is Joe Frazier saying?

At 8:29 seconds of this video it appears that Joe Frazier is saying
"My man is in the lead".
Not Muhammad is in the lead but "My Man is in the lead". Was he betting on or hoping for or holding some sort of respect/admiration for Ali?
Surprising if it is so. Maybe he was pining for his next championship fight (which eventually happened) with the man who he figured he had a better shot at beating?
Anyway I'd never heard that before and it struck me as unusual at least at that point in time.

I think the context was his best shot at title recovery was against Ali, because I don't ever remember hearing Frazier back Ali to win the fight. Since their relationship had already turned frosty by '74, it seems most likely that Frazier was simply referring to Ali as, "his man" in that he was the most beatable adversary.

Styles make fights.
Frazier picked Foreman to win at the beginning of the fight. But he knew that he could never beat Foreman but knew he could be competitive with Ali.

De la Hoya was "my man" on December 6, 2008 until about the seventh round. At that point Manny Pacquiao became "my man."
Maybe the same strange pheonomena occurred with Joe going into the eighth round on October 30, 1974 as occurred with me . . .
Everybody loves a (soon-to-be) winner!

It took you
that long to put together De La Hoya was going down the tubes?

J/K, mate
That was actually probably the most poignant moment for me, as Boxing fan, in the last several years. I've always been a die-hard of Oscar's. It was tough to watch. Larry Merchant's word in the post-fight wash-up still resonate with me...
"...The king is dead..." :(

He must also be thinking he could get the winner if Ali wins however if Foreman wins nobdoy wants to see them fight again as it was so one sided. Also everyone their was pro Ali so might as well go with the crowd.

I'm loyal to a fault, I guess.

'My man' is just a term. I always use it, + in Ireland we say 'yer man' when talking of someone.

You sure? I think his family has ties to the O'Fraziers of Dublin.

Joseph O'Frazier. Course he's Irish, just like Ali.
