haye marketability factor??

In fairness Don King may have told the judges to give it to Haye because of the marketability BUT it was no robbery. I thought he won 8-4 but so many close rounds that could have gone either way

best post of the night not much in the fight but considering the german judge bias before tonight to suddenly give a close fight to the opponent seems very fishy however well done david haye

agreed, 2 weight champ, and he's done it away. well done, hayemaker. bring that title home, fill up that arena that you seemed to win over in mac fight (the biggest domestic fight/unification since benn v eubank 2).

while it was not exciting, he has had many thrilling nights, and vs different styles, he will have plenty more. he is a success story who has done it his own way and surely he stands to make the biggest paydays in british boxing.

isn't there a rematch clause for valuev in the UK, also?

obviously, ruiz has to be squeezed in first, and perhaps valuev can be put off, long enough perhaps to land a unification. i wouldn't give haye a chance v vitali. but this win over valuev can raise his game to perhaps being able to beat wlad.

Don't forget that Valuez was a Russian (although "adopted" by the Germans) and the judges were Spanish, Italian and American.

for the record, it was the Spaniard who scored it a draw.

It was a close fight not a robbery either way. I doubt it had anything to do with Haye's markebility I just think they thought Haye won

Well done David Haye!

I'd just like to congratulate David Haye on a fantastic victory, there seems to be a lot of critisism every where over the way he thought, but i felt he employed great tactics against a man who was a foot taller and 7 stone heavier. It's a shame he didn't land "that" punch in the earlier rounds, if he did i am sure he would have taken great confidence and stopped Valuev. I'm sure His next fights against normal sized human beings will be much more exciting. :TU:

Congats all round.

Now, he has the slightly smaller task (compared to Valuev) of chinning the Klitschko brothers. :P

Against Vlad, he has a slight chance.

Against Vitali, no chance in hell. :bag:

Ye he fought the fight he needed to too win moving, frustrating Valuev landing fast punches I do like Haye but cant see him beating either of the Klitschko's

I`m over the moon with the result - but in tears about the actual fight .. it was one, if not THE worst heavyweight title fight I`ve ever witnessed. Anybody care to name a worse combined display by two guys fighting for a world title?

If only Haye had took it to Valuev in a Holyfield fashion from the beginning.

Steve Bunce had Haye winning on his card after a really negative performance last night. But Andre Dirrell fought the exact same fight against Froch who couldnt land a punch and yet Bunce had Froch winning. So much for having to 'beat' the champion to win the title eh Buncey. Slight bit of a hypocrite in my opinion. Haye was trying to rob rounds last night by throwing one combination a round, I'm sorry but that doesn't win a World Title for me, Valuev was way busier and landing a lot more jabs than he was being given credit for.

Feel even more sorry for Dirrell now.

Best of luck to David Haye, should beat Ruiz handily but can't see him beating either of the Klits.

I think he'll outpoint Ruiz with ease, KO Vlad and then get stopped by Viali, but i'm sure he'll earn Gazzilions in the process and good luck to him.

Good result for Haye. Wasn't a great fight, but he has the belt now and can move on to better things. Thought he could've let his hands go a little more, but maybe he new he didn't need to or maybe his right hand really was hurt. Fighting the way he fought last night wont get him past either Klitschko, all those jabs that Valuev landed last night would be landed by either Klitschko then followed by a crisp right hand.

Haye just didnt do enough to win it but neither did Valuev do enough to retain it. In that situation you must get a contraversial decision. The judge who scored it even was probably right. A strange fight of cat and mouse, with the cat getting the cheese. Chagaev and Holyfield took risks with Valuev, while Haye took none. The last round was the best without doubt. Haye wobbled the giant but wasnt able to land flush and put him down. Haye should have no trouble with Ruiz, but the Klits are another matter. I give him no chance against Vitali and a slight chance with Vlad. I wouldnt bet on him beating Chagaev either. I reserve my congratulations for when Haye is in a proper fight and shows he is a worthy champion.

Watched the fight again and had it 114-114 again. Neither landed much Valuev threw more but missed more whereas Haye didnt throw enough

I'm really happy for Haye, though I think he should have thrown more punches. Onwards and upwards now. A defence against Ruiz and then hopefully a clash with a Klitschko.

I was fairly sure he'd get it. Valuev isn't a draw any more and Haye - Klitschko is where the money is.
